WTB 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo [Japan]

I'd like a 16GB Memory Stick Duo and would either like to buy one on here or have info on the cheapest place to get one in Japan.

    Thanks! :)

Not to derail your topic but you could buy a dual micro SDHC to MS Pro Duo adapter and pop in 2x8gb or 2x16gb. I've been told they work extremely well.

Memory Stick Pro Duo is horribly expensive.

I use a PhotoFast CR-5400 with 2x 16Gb microSDHC on my PSP-3000 and it works extremely well - it could save you a small fortune :)

The best part is even with the cost of the adapter I've got a compatible 32Gb for less than the cost of a 16Gb Memory Stick Pro Duo and it would stand to reason as APE said if 16Gb was your limit you could make further savings dropping a couple of 8Gb in there instead.

I suspect you could make the same kind of savings in Japan too but I've not really tested it on other devices so if you needed it for a camera or something I dunno.

It is indeed for a PSP. Thanks for the tip guys; a great idea as I use Micro SD cards in phones and other devices. I'll check it out! :)

Ahh in that case you can either go for somthing like the 16Gb Sandisk Pro Duo Here @ 4,999 JPY, or 2x 16Gb microSDHC here @ 2,290 JPY each and the adapter here @ 490 JPY

    Basically 16Gb @ 4,999 JPY vs. 32GB @ 5,070 JPY. I know which one I'd go for :p

The only catch is those microSDHC would have to be formatted as a pair (I think), so if you wanted to reuse them in your other stuff you'd probably have to format them again. You can mix and match though so long as they do not exceed 16 + 16Gb. I'm pretty sure if you're lazy you can run it with just one microSDHC in too, you're not forced to use a pair.

Fantastic! I'll check it out :) Is there a special way to format them as a pair?

Erm bung both of your microSDHC into the adapter, bung the adapter into the PSP, from the PSP menu format the stick, job done :)

I'm rather surprised it is that easy. What happens if you take one of the microsd cards out and try to use it? Does it work like a striped raid?

I hadn't tried it but seeing as you asked from my tests I would guess it is striped somehow yes.

I pulled out the card from the back first, popped it in and I was instantly told the memory stick cannot be read. I popped it back n and pulled out the one from the front, it had some activity but no warning and no mntion of any memory stick. I put that back so it is back to the pair in and got my 32Gb back.

They can work with one card in though, but given as these were formatted as a pair it will be why they didn't work solo.

The card likely has some sort of internal mounting procedure that formats the first card with the requisite data. I'd wager if you put the card that is in slot "B" into slot "A" and tried to use it stand alone it would offer to format it or tell you nothing is in there as well as vice versa.

Just my curiosity getting the better of me.

Being the gentleman that I am and as Martin and others may want to know, I just tried swopping position 1 to 2 and vice versa and again the memory card cannot be read. If you format them as a pair, you have to use them as a pair in their chosen slots unless you format them again.

Thanks for all the info! Interesting too. Definitely seems the way to go, as Micro SD are so much cheaper than Memory Stick Duos for the same price. Great replies! :)
