SEGA CDX NOMAD the way it was meant to be
i enjoyed the video but cringed on how he desecrated the CDX

While I have appreciation for his skill and his rather nice portable atari 2600s I find this a tad disgusting.
The battery life has to be horrendous with that, the CD spins freely on the outside just asking for something bad to happen (hope you're using a back-up!) and because of the those two to think there is one less CDX in existence for a stupid reason makes me feel less than fuzzy inside. This isn't a "real" portable, this is shoving a console into a custom case, attaching a battery and putting an LCD screen in front. A true portable would find some way to reduce power consumption greatly while making the form factor small enough to hopefully fit in a pocket (even my DSi XL does).
To be fair on the power aspect, a Nomad would run ~45 minutes on rechargable AAs the way I would play it. A genesis runs for about an hour on a single 9v battery before all sorts of fun glitches start popping up until it slowly migrates to a frozen state.
Ben's 360 and PS3 "laptops" are a great idea though. He should stick with those and less with destroying hardware that has no business being "portable" until the hardware is seriously given an overhaul.
couldn't agree with you more that he ruined a perfectly good CDX makes me sick
if he had taken a model 2 genesis and a model 2 sega cd and made a DIY CDX then it would be a really cool mod
but this is just a travesty and like i said earlier i think he phoned this build in
God thats ugly. Normally he makes them pretty sexy but thats just a mess.
Far more disturbing for me is the discovery that Ben Heck looks like the most annoying person I know!

the CDX is sacred to SEGA fans and by removeing one from the world you are robbing it of its charter

in 2-3 years sega sold half as many consoles as the game cube did in 10 years
game cube sold 20 mill units
Don't worry, in like 25 years there will be a new SEGA console, I'm sure of that.
