Thread: Announcing the 64drive nearing completion

  1. #301
Do people think that we should start organising the bulk purchase? I don't want to miss out on this.

  2. #302
There is no much info how far the process is but I think there is some bugfixing right now? And there is no release date either. I bought ED64 already but if this is much better I think I will buy that too...

The everdrive 64 doesn't support FlashRAM saving does it? With KRIKzz even going as far as to say that it may never support FlashRAM. In this post: http://assemblergames.com/forums/sho...&postcount=429 he even mentions that the 64drive does not yet have it implemented, although I assume this is because the 64drive was still in testing rather than it not being supported at all. The ED64 also does not yet support Dezaemon 3D saving.

If you look at the website feature page the info is there: http://64drive.retroactive.be

    Supports all known save types
    EEPROM (4k, 16k), SRAM, FlashRAM

Yeah, I'd already seen that, which is why I thought it odd that KRIKzz would state that it wasn't yet supported in the 64drive.

This is only a quess, but I think Flashram saving is one reason it is not published yet...? Btw. That cart looking good! :)

My 2 cents... the page is work in progress though

Thanks for a nice clear and informative review. I'm still on the fence between this, and the ED64.

you misquoted the ED64 price considering the board itself is only $99

  16. #316
Don't forget to include the price of a byte blaster cable too should you ever need to update the firmware.

I've compared the price of a fully working (assembled) ED64 to a 64drive, so no, I don't think I misquoted the ED64 price. Not everyone can attach a CIC themselves or cut a hole in the cart case for that matter.

It's entirely misleading to completely leave out information that the ED64 is available for less than that price if the user desires. You should amend your review to properly state all available pricing options if you don't want to present a biased perspective of things.

  19. #319
I have changed the text slightly, but again I still don't think the $144 ED64 price tag is misleading, that was/is the actual cost of a fully assembled ED64 with USB port, according to the retrogate website.

Afaik you can only purchase a fully assembled 64drive... so I have to compare "an apple with an apple" if you know what I mean.

    Nice review nesworld :)
How much did shipping cost and did you experience any troubles with the customs?
