I am an admin on another board(4g61t.org), and I hope this isn't like other group buys I've seen, where the person doesn't deliver, gives up and disappears, or I receive the item 5 months later. I know he is a long time member, but I've seen those too. I'm at the 3-4 week mark, I have only 15 more days of any kind of dispute, his last post was 3 weeks ago on the board, and no update, and no warm fuzzy at all.

I'm not saying this will be the case, but why shouldn't I worry?

I have got the same worries, I think I will cancel in 14 days if there is no new reply or someone who claims to have a preorder received.:-(

Easy for you to say that. You already have your 64drive, and we all don't.

Well I'm just sorry to hear that some of you may think this is a scam. Knowing how much time and effort Marshall has put into this project I'm sure he won't let any of you down, just have a little more patience please, I know it's hard to wait for something this cool :-)

i think they are more worried about actual delivery rather than intentional SCAMS

you can guarantee i will file a paypal dispute on the last day if i haven't been told it is shipped

marshalh is probably too busy riding jet skis in the bahamas and doing cocaine off a hookers ass with all the money you guys gave him to finish producing the carts

  8. #488
I'm sure that marshall can make more money by selling the 64drives on a long term basis than the little money he would get with this "scam".

    So don't worry.

Probably too much people ordered so thats is why we experience this delay of information now.

This happen all the time, someone work hard to make his own project into a limited run product and then people order it thinking they will get it as fast as a bigmac at McDonald.

That not how it work. He need build then all one by one then test the finish product. All this take a lot of time for a single person.

So if you can't wait and trust him just don't order, just wait after the first batch that others provide feedback...

marshallh has updated his other thread with a short update:

Wow, you think a month is a long time? I waited 2 years for Pier Solar from Team WaterMelon, and I know plenty others waited even longer after sending a preorder payment.

Have a little faith in your provider, children. In case you unsurprisingly forgot, it's a preorder, also commonly spelled "PRE-ORDER", a method used to gauge how many units need to be manufactured/assembled, dates/arrivals/projection times are subject to change because of high demand.

Sorry, but I won't be jumping on your "claim filing" bandwagon, I actually have respect for this one-man operation.

well said. take it slow guy slow your roll . take it easy the fact that it is one guy juggling college, this crap and much much more doesn't give you the right to go on an o.c.d rampage . it will come it takes time . this may be a great trial that helps you learn patients before you become old.

    Update via http://64drive.retroactive.be/purchase.php

Thank you everyone for your preorders so far. There was a HUGE amount of demand, more so than I could have predicted.

Because of this, the production is taking longer. As of Sep 7, some cartridges will be shipping within 2 weeks.

Preorders will be shipped in the order that they were paid for. If you placed a preorder in early August, you will be the first to receive yours.

Thank you very much for your patience.

...anyone else want to complain? Give it up for your boy, marshall.

  14. #494
i think once again you misunderstood me
anyways all i was looking for was an update from Marshall w/ an eta
i ordered mine within minutes of the preorder anouncement
so i should receive mine soon i hope ":D

Marshall would not scam anyone. He is a trusted and honest person ;-)

He has indeed, put a hell of a lot of effort into the 64Drive, and it will amaze us all...

    This

Does the cart work with both NTSC and PAL systems
Yes, the cart will detect the type of N64 it's booted on, and change TV modes accordingly. It will also, by default, start software with this region.
    from the FAQ
in combination with these Purchase Options:
    • NTSC - Case and CIC installed
    • PAL - Case and CIC installed

lead me to believe that the innards of the 64drive are always the same, but that there are versions in two different cartridge form-factors: NTSC-U/C and PAL / NTSC-J (afaik japanese and european/australian cartridges are physically the same).
So whichever N64 system you manage to fit a 64drive into, it will run in that systems region, right?
And one of those adapters for playing japanese games on a US system (and vice-versa) should help with that..

    Is that correct?

  17. #497
Here is what Marshallh replied to me by email on this topic:
"The 64drive itself is not limited to any region, however the CIC that is
    installed in it, is.

If you have a NTSC N64, you must have a NTSC CIC installed in the
    64drive. Same goes for PAL.

You can run PAL and NTSC games on the same 64drive."

Yeah IMO the 64drive purchase section need to be updated to make it clearer, since really there are three main N64 console regions:-

USA - NTSC CIC - USA case
    Japan - NTSC CIC - JPN/EUR case
    Europe - PAL CIC - JPN/EUR case

The European and Japanese game cartridge cases are the same shape, but they use different CIC's so are not compatible.

USA and Japanese games have the same CIC but a different cartridge casing, but because this is only a physical lockout it is possible to simply remove the cartridge slot tabs inside the console and play either region game on either region console:-
    http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/ni...-cart-tabs.htm

The problem is if you own an unmodified Japanese N64 console then you cant use either 64drive options without some sort of modification, either to the 64drive case or your console.

It could be that the 64drive's case fits in every console, the only difference is the CIC. So no modifications required.

    Just as i thought.
    But what does
Yes, the cart will detect the type of N64 it's booted on, and change TV modes accordingly
    mean?
If the CIC determines which systems the 64drive is going to run on, how can it change TV modes?
