Remember how ridiculously expensive N64 games used to be here!
QFT. If this costs, say, $150, that's like two games at launch prize where I come from.

What a clean design. With the sub-board on the back will this make it difficult to fit into a 64 cartridge? Also will the usb port be used for flashing purposes?

Unless I'm mistaken, you will be able to send your compiled program over to the 64drive via USB, and it's loaded into the SDRAM and the machine reboots to allow you to test programs pretty quickly.

Is this Project "still alive" ?

  8. #208
Um, Yes. The creator posted new pics of the casing in the past week. Latest in long line of updates going back months. Why ask?

  9. #209
Just because im quite new here and wanted to be sure that this is still a project worth keeping my eye on.

    No bad intentions.

    Can't wait...

Wow this is going to be an awesome product, I'll pre-order when it's possible.
I think this just might support every damned game out there, after reading the whole thread. NICE!

I have a European and a Japanese N64. Due to the region lockout tech, would I need a 64drive for each console?

Every other copier for the N64 works on all region consoles, I don't see why the 64drive wouldn't.

If by "every other copier" you mean something like the Dr 64, then that piggy backed off the boot ROM of an original cart to defeat region protection.

I was under the impression that the 64drive didn't need to do this.

You need to solder two cic's(PAL and NTSC) into it with a switch to select which one it should use. Then you can use it on both your NTSC and PAL N64.
At least thats how it works with the Neo N64 Myth if you don't wanna plug a cart into the back of it.

Maybe marshall has some extras build into his cart so you will need only one cic.
But you won't need two 64drives.
