not bad ...i don't have it anymore but years ago me and my brother tried to paint a playstation blue .we left it outside to dry and the wind blew it into a massive pile of dirt.it stuck to it like you don't know what and when it dried it looked all lumpy and rough still worked though :)

You shouldn't leave your playstation out during hurricaines :P

Looks like a nice pain finish apart from the vents on the Mega Drive. Maybe a white system would have looked nicer though?

Nice job on the Gold Genesis! I like the job you did on the controller, looks damn nice.

Also as mentioned, a white Genesis would look killer, a really glossy white with red trim maybe... :love2:

Also that Sonic job is righteous, I just wish it could have somehow avoided the dust flaps.

Did you use a special kind of paint that adheres well to the plastic? Sweet looking Genesis, I like the gold personally!!!

Actually no. I just got lucky. The paint was some sort of spray enamel that i found in the garage. I'm surprised it still worked, it was about thirty years old...

I might buy a Model 2 and paint it all white with a red trim...

I've thought about doing custom paint jobs on some of my other consoles, especially the ones that were given to me and have sun fade. My only fear is causing the internal electronics to over heat!

Anyone find krylon never really 'dries' and rubs off really easy? the best thing i've used is high heat engine paint, heres how it looks:

Why would the electronics overheat? Adding a layer of paint won't kill anything...

I'm not saying it would, I'm just saying I'm worried it might. Thought about doing it to a couple PS1 but I don't want to screw up the ventilation on those systems.

You could either A) Mask off the vents B) clean out the vents after painting or C) Add fans like I did to my Genesis.

What kind of fan did you use and where did you get the power for the fan from? I'm guessing you went with a 5V fan such as a computer case fan right?

Actually, I had recently been to an E-Waste center and picked up a box of tiny 1" x 1" fans, like the ones in old laptops. They were 12 volt, but they ran nicely off of 5 volts.

(Now that i think of it, I could of wired them to the 9.5 volts from the barrel plug)

How loud did it make the genesis though? I'm guessing they are fairly quiet and don't move a ton of air but enough to keep the console running cool.

that's a good paint to use if you want your engine parts to be shiny.

I prefer good ol' powder coating. Gives it a gritty look/feel and is very durable.

What Nissan does that go to?
