Loading original Mega/Sega-CD-games

I use a japanese Mega Drive 2 with japanese Mega CD 2 and want to start original US-Sega-CD's on my system using the Everdrive.

If I load up the Everdrive with "Russell-region-free-cd-bios.bin" the system is only black and nothing appears.

Can anyone help me how this works?

I'm not sure about Mega CD support with the Everdrive, but you could try ripping the game to iso/wav using a utility called "scdconv" to change the region and then burning it to a CD-R. That should make it work on vanilla Mega CD BIOS. I've done it before, with mixed success. NTSC games run kinda stupid on my PAL Mega CD! unfortunately bios loading functions works fine only on cart with firmware 12 or more
