you mean freeze in begin of flashing process?

it is normal. it flash memory erase befor write

half way through the flash process when the progress bar appears
the rom will stop writing and nothing happens
but then other times its ok
oh this bug present on some carts. i fix it in last firmware, so you can try to update firmware or send cart back to me for update firmware

so to update firmware i have to use byte blaster and have a pc with the corrosponding port, which is a problem as i use mac os x
i think i may have an old pc lying arround the garrage

you can buy usb blaster here
but you steel need windows computer because quartus software works only under windows and linux. update process is simple
1) install altera quartus 2 web edition software
2) connect jtag and install driver from C:\altera\10.0sp1\quartus\drivers\usb-blaster
3) run quartus 2 and open tools>programmer
4) press hardware setup button and select usb blaster
5) press add file button and select firmware file
6) put cartridge in console
7) connect jtag to cartridge
8) switch console power on
9) press start in quartus programmer tool
and keep at mind that OS should me updated to last version before firmware update

this problem present from begin of cart life, not come with time. as far as i know only some of carts with firmware v9 and v4 may show this bug

who could do a jtag os upgrade on this for me ?
i cant justify the cost of the byte blaster simply for this purpose :crying:
they are a bit expensive for what i need it for
its a random kind of bug
most of the time the cart works fine
and then wham the rom wont wright to flash
i was wondering if it could be a power issue?
my powerpack is not official
its a telegames powerpack
i have buggy cart, which may hang sometime, while flashing, if i use firmware v9, but i also use not official power adapter, so i can't check how such cart work with original adapter.
EDIT: but i can try it with various not official adapters

evileyecheese, you also need the 10-pin header in addition to the byte blaster. Also, that Quartus II software is free but is 2.7GB!!!! Hey Krikzz, is there any other software than that monstrosity?
I have the same problem and it's quite annoying.
Could I send it back to you for a firmware update? Could you possibly install the SMS pause button as well? I thought it was going to be included but it wasn't. I don't have the soldering skills to do it myself. :crying:
