Graphics card problems

Okay, im finally talking to you guys using my own computer! I had to reinstall windows and wipe the hard drive, though. And now, for some reason, My only color options are 2 and 16, and I have terrible resolution, too. I need to download a video card driver, and I not exactly sure what my video card is, exactly, but MY mom went to Belarc for my computer and found this as the video card:
Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) [Display adapter]
I typed this on google, looking for drivers, but I got links to other crap that werent even close. (I guess) Does anyone know where I can go, or what I can do to get the color and resolution back to the way it was? I dont know where the original cd is BTW. :no

belarc is only showing the driver you have loaded - which is windows' default driver. is the computer self built or a dell, compaq etc? if its a big company then chances are the drivers are on their website - it'll just be a case of telling the site your PC model.

Alternatively, if its an Nvidia card you can just download the driver from their site - its one driver for ALL their cards. I think ATI have a similar driver which covers all, although im not so sure about that

The computer is a compaq, and it came with the card and We didnt change it or anything.

Any idea on the model number of the pc?

I'd take a look on Compaqs Site and see what you can find there
