If I might add my 2 cents, an uncompressed torrent would be the ideal method, so that items of interest can be downloaded individually.

It's obvious that some form of p2p is going to be used. A torrent is the most obvious, and the least hassle for all concerned.

I agree. At the risk of sounding repetitive, a torrent seedbox is the way to go. Unlimited bandwith for uploading = huge win if you huge amounts of data to upload to numerous peers.

Individually compressed files=best method. Why waste space and bandwidth on something that can be compressed to 1/3rd its size?
Shuttling it to Usenet would be a good way to guarantee it'll be around for at least 90 days, 180 or more for providers that keep it up that long.

My Dreamhost webspace has unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth if that helps. Might take a while to do the initial upload though!
i am seeding all of the discs so far from my seed box that's in the Netherlands, it should have 250Mbit upstream minimum and gigabit max,

Do you have a direct link on utorrent's site to this version? The only one I can find there is an installable which includes stupid crap like a browser tool bar and some movie executable that I have to opt out of...
And I need to run it on a machine I don't have admin rights on...
Or any other recommendations for torrent software that doesn't require installation?
