sorry guys, im quite the n00b when it comes to this stuff...

install to what?
I have no software... just the sophia and everything i need to use it like a normal saturn... all i want to do right now is just that... but i can't get the CD drive to spin/read/move/do a damn thing.

What im guessing is the CD access light flashes from the second i boot the box up... looking at the board that it connects to, it is up the wrong way... but i trust LeGIt when he says he had it working like that...

If someone could simply confim the right dip settings i need
off,on,on,on,off,off,off etc... that is all i need... then if it still does not work... i can assume that both cd units i have for the system are broken.

Id gladly pay someone to test my CD units in their system...

My Sophia only has the one SH2, and I don't have the PGA adapter for the ICE pod. So I'm not of much use to you.

All I can say is, Legit had it working I know that. That means the CD-ROM cable must have been right, and your best bet is to play around with the jumpers going on the settings I gave you. If it doesn't work, it could be something more serious. :smt009

I just had a thought - maybe you're stepdown isn't up to scratch for powering such a huge power-hungry beast?

oh! it like use 300W , try use good power step-down

you need a good stepdown for it, also Xbox devs also require a pokey Stepdown.

A common problem is the SH2's working loose of the motherboard. Which can be fixed by simply pressign them gently down.

its not the power thing... like i said, it just hangs on the introscreen (after the logo has done its funky animation)

Surley if it was the SH2's being loose, it would not get that far?

Could anyone test my CD drives for me?
that way i know if its the system or the drives...

Does it have a cart slot? You can try booting a cheat cartridge, it should boot even if the drive is shot.

Yeh it has a cart slot ;) But you have to undo a screw to open the flap. Not much of a big deal though :smt023 I stil think it may be the Stepdown though, it could be getting enough to come alive but when the time comes for it to suck up the wattage maybe it's just not getting it - it's the only thing I can remotely think of.

You could also try to source an official Test Cartridge, I think retr0 has one...

well, spend 40 quid on a massive power converter... hurt my back getting it home, and it did nothing to help...

so, what cart can i get to test it with?
