Well if it doesn't work out, at least you have all those downloaded games to keep you busy.

My second attempt at trying to get this famicom pad to USB. The first attempt was a plug in retro-bit adapter that i bought but it was crap as it didn't work properly, so i bought a retro usb conversion kit instead. Bit of soldering later i now have a working USB original Famicom pad,, prefer a real pad than those fake Buffalo USB knockoffs.

Good work, Importaku. Your soldering looks top notch too.

I bought a few 360 games in the last month being Under Defeat HD, Fist of the North Star (again) and Earth Defence Force IA which is complete shit compared to the Japanese produced EDF games. I don't like it at all. The great B-movie feel has gone.

Oh, and finally I got a brand new Panzer Dragoon Orta with soundtrack CD for the XBOX. I play it on the 360 though and man, this still looks very pretty. Fantastic game.

Do you ever get that issue where the graphics corrupt when you reach one of the last bosses on 360?

Nope, nothing at all. I read that it's only on the PAL version which has graphic issues. I've finished the Saturn game and Panzer Dragoon Orta with out any issues. Panzer Dragoon Saturn version is a little squashed due to the odd wide-screen format. It's not quite 16:9 but it's far wider than 4:3.

I'm amazed at how well the XBOX can run Saturn code. This is in no way a reprogrammed version of Panzer Dragoon (main game code) because it has ALL the same texture warps, glitches, slowdown issues and other little things from the original Saturn game. I've played the original many many times so I know this game inside out.

Trine @ £1.40 and Trine 2 @ £5.99 in the Steam Weekend Sale. I didn't care for the collectors edition with artbook and soundtrack though. Maybe I' ll live to regret it but meh!

EDIT: I decided my PC is getting too loud, especially as I only have 1 watt speakers built into my monitor and possibly due to the increased heat from the warmer climate meaning the fans are working a little harder so I figured I'd order some extra 140mm case fans.

I bought some nasty cheap case fans last year but pulled them off imemdiately as they were rofl loud.

I've spent a small fortune this time around, however I wanted free delivbery and figured a CPU cooler would be handy too, so I picked one up (with half the db of stock but better cooling) to round my order to just over £50 thus eligible for free delivery ;)

The overall CFM/airflow doesn't bother me too much. The main things I am interested in are a) quieter b) as good as stock cooling or better. I just hope it is money well spent as it is in short supply at the moment!

That's because it's the Sega PC-version of Panzer Dragoon which they just put on the disc since it was easier to port to the original Xbox.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

Are you sure? The sega PC version had all the same issues as the Satirn version? It also used a high resolution title screen transformation from the low resolution polygon flyover screen? Also, the PC wouldn't have 100% same texture warps as the Saturn would it? Or was the PC version built from Saturn code? Even all the Saturn Panzer Dragoon cheats work.

I never played PD1 on Xbox though, but I remember clearly that it was mentioned in several reviews of the time.

And I don't know if I'm right or not on this one because it's been about 9 years since I watched the review video and read the article, but I believe they said that the PC-version was inferior to the Saturn-version and therefore the PD that's included with PDO is unfortunately not a good port. Again, not certain about this one.

Upon a quick google search at least the PC-port origin seems to be confirmed though.

Very interesting. I'll have to get the Saturn game out tonight and make a side by side video to see. I'm not saying you are wrong at all as I also remember the PC port being talked about.

Keep me up to date! I'm fairly certain that the commenter in the review video from 2003 said it was a bad port, but then again magazine journalists are not always the best judges. Although in this case, I knew him personally from expos and he was a huge SEGA/Saturn fan and should know his stuff. But still, I'm looking forward to your judgement :)

Bought this for ridiculously low prices at the local book off. Book Off rocks, even abroad! A mint Silent Hill for $5, one of the best deals I got there so far. SF EX3 for $5 and Densha de GO! 3 Tsuukin-hen for $7 ain't too shabby either. The DVD's are just for fun, they were 5 each... but with spine/regcard and in those funny CD-cases they used in Japan in the early DVD-days :D

    Cool buys you have there.

Yeah, I'll let you know about Panzer on the Xbox when I get home. I'm away at the moment until Thursday. Oh man, no game consoles for 3 days :(

    Latest haul

^^^^ Pretty excited for all of this. Sega Wonder Mega is what I was most excited about. It has a hard time opening the tray and a few scratches but otherwise I'm pretty pleased. Neo Geo AES with a couple games. A good shape Famicom (not as white as in the picture but still the cleanest one I've got my hands on.) an SG1000 and a Sega Mark II (which I neglected to by games for atm so I can't test them yet) Gunners Heaven a game I've missed a ton.

Wow, great haul! The Wondermega is a beauty... hope you have a lot of fun with it. I'm digging the Mega Jet too, did it come with a game cartridge? I know there were lots of different bundles that sometimes couldn't be told apart by the outer box.

I've been really getting into comics lately.

I picked up Batman Beyond #2, Scarlet Spider #3, Batman Detective Stories #1, and Star Wars Knights of the Republic Vol. 3. I'm also looking forward to the X-Men vs Avengers series coming out really soon.

Anyone have any recommendations? Preferably newer stuff. And I like pretty much everything... except Superman.
