    Names of Nintendo debug units

    I see that for N64 and GC the debug units keep the names of the original console project. I mean ultra 64 and dolphin. Is this an usual thing or just a Nintendo's recent tradition?

    If you are referring to ASSEMbler's auctions I believe that those units were simply shipped before each systems respective name change and not that they kept the name for the Dev/Debug units. It was the same with the Dreamcast. Earlier dev systems and cdr's had Kitana instead of Dreamcast.

    It's about copyrighted names, they usually keep the early names.

    Ultra 64 = Nintendo 64
    Dolphin = Gamecube
    Sega is the same

    32X = Mars (open yours up, it's on the board)
    Dreamcast = Katana

    Most mfg have a seperate name for the dev hardware, so that it does not get confused.

    Xbox is called ibuki I think
