Dead Rising 2 : Promos ruin the game?

The preorders from all retailers have different bonuses. It pisses me off
that they make it this way.

    BestBuy

Order Dead Rising 2 for Xbox 360 or PS3, and you'll get a code in-pack to unlock the "Sports Fan" outfit.
It not only shows off Chuck's team spirit, but also grants him new abilities:

    • Increased Power for All Sports Weapons
Baseball bats swing harder; balls bounce more; and the years of armchair coaching pay off when sports-themed weapons become greater tools of zombie destruction.
    • Unique Attack
Grab a football and plow down the undead competition with a powerful running stiff-arm.
    • Better Health Recovery
Who can go into the big game without half-time snacks? With the Sports Fan theme pack, Chuck earns additional health whenever he consumes food or drink.
    • Increased Gambling Winnings
Your luck goes further than the field. Sports Fan Chuck will gain additional money whenever he wins in the casinos.

    Amazon -

    Pre-order Bonus
Pre-order Dead Rising 2, for Xbox 360, and get items for your Xbox LIVE avatar, featuring Chuck Greene’s iconic

    Gamestop -

Reserve Dead Rising 2 and receive the Ninja Skills Pack. The pack includes 4 pieces of Ninja clothing. When Chuck wears just one piece of the outfit, it unlocks new abilities in Chuck associated with the Ninja theme. When all 4 pieces of the outfit are worn, additional Ninja-like animations are also unlocked! Theme Pack does not include sword. Available online and in-store while supplies last.

And worst of all capcom's own.

The Dead Rising 2 High Stakes Edition comes with:

    • Dead Rising 2 Game (Xbox 360 or PS3)
    • Poker Set in a black high-impact case sporting the Fortune City Logo and including:
      • 100 Poker Chips – 4 different colors featuring the Fortune City logo
      • 2 decks of ‘blood-stained’ custom playing cards featuring character art from Dead Rising 2
      • 5 Green Dice
      • 1 ‘blood-stained’ dealer chip

    • Fortune City Visitor Map featuring the game map and ads for Fortune City locations and attractions
    • Terror Is Reality XVII admission ticket with redemption code for the unique ‘Psycho’ costume and skills downloadable content
    • The chance at discovering the ‘Golden’ Terror Is Reality XVII admission ticket *

*One Dead Rising 2 High Stakes Edition contains the ‘Golden’ Terror Is Reality XVII admission ticket. The ‘Golden’ ticket is redeemable for Burt the Zombie, a 6’ Dead Rising 2 zombie replica
Available to residents of the United States, Canada and Mexico only

So now where I buy the fucking game can make a major impact in
how it plays? Fuck you Capcom.

Pretty BS. I hate how game companies have decided to milk their games creating DLC that doesn't need to exist in the first place and should be unlockable in game. I am sure all these outfits and skills are already on every disc as well huh? Just like SF4 Alternate Costumes... when did it become a sin to include extra content that doesn't cost money? :banghead:
    Whole new missions/areas = Understandable

This is the crap I feared when online content became mainstream. I'm not against limited editions or even retailer exclusive limited editions as long as it doesn't affect actual gameplay. I always feel like I'm getting the shaft when developers offer retailer exclusive items.
Well, it's rather brutal here. Right now we are advising all our clients to put everything they've got into canned food and shotguns.

It will only get worse because of the idiots who feel the need to buy multiple copies of a game just for the extras.

It's worse, on the capcom forums people are figuring out how to steal the content by buying and returning.

I got the pc version preordered on steam, $39.99 and I can run it at 2560x1600. Even better is there will probably be mods unlike console. Downside is there will probably be no dlc.

I am not surprised that this is happening to be honest. The problem is you have so many choices to buy the same product from various retailers, so it's a matter of buying it from the one that most convenient to you since the price is going to be the same.

I mean do you know that many people who want buy a regular copy of a capcom game from capcom's store at full price + shipping and tax? So what capcom does now is offer their exclusive online bundles to move some of their own stock.

So now what they are doing is offering these exclusives as an incentive to buy from their store over another. Game stop was the first to start this i think followed by best buy.

In fact for awhile best buy use to offer exclusive bonus discs when you bought certain dvd's from them.

You can also just play the game as is and forget about all those bs extra's ;)
That's what I do with all my games, I never bought any extra's or dlc and I don't have the feeling i am missing out on something tbh.

I mean dlc's with extra levels etc is one thing, but do you really need a "Sports Fan" outfit? do you really need to dress up Ken and Ryu in a different sissy dress as if they are barbies? do you really need to play with darthvader?

They did this same exact thing with War for Cybertron (only in the US though), with a different exclusive character depending on where you bought it from. Of course, they were later released as DLC for everyone.

I agree that it's BS, especially if it's stuff like a new character and not just a new outfit or something that doesn't affect the gameplay at all.

Agree with you all. Capcom has turned to rape mode this gen. Really lost my support, not to the point of a boycott though (their games are still ok to play). More fool me.

To be fair a lot of the DLC is just plain crap, costumes who cares! What does annoy the collector in me is the bevy of LEs. In the UK there's the regular DR2, the Zombrex edition (god what a shitty attempt that was) and the Game exclusive Outbreak edition. More fool us for buying this crap.

Bonus contente and DLC could be and sometimes IS used in a good way. Adding replay value for a game, new missions, tracks,...

The problem is when there's DLC announced BEFORE the game is actually released. It's like a game could have 30 missions, but instead they release the $60 game with just 15 missions, and then start to make DLC's "avaiable".

DLC being developed at the same time is not additional content. It's content missing from the $60 game.

DLC should be developed AFTER the game is launched. Unfortunately, most companies just want to rip-off gamers.

I would love to know the full list of cars Turn 10 licensed before releasing Forza III but just didn't have "time" to fit in the main game.

I know Capcom usually gets bashed the most for their DLC, but Namco has been the worst offender this gen. Just think of all the levels they put in Beautiful Katamari that you had to pay like $15 to unlock, or the Ace Combat 6 DLC: pay separately for each mission's Hard mode.

That's pretty bad. But RE5 had some shocking DLC cons. And SFIV is a joke. 10 quid plus for a code to unlock a load of costumes actually on your sodding disc already. Actually perhaps I will stop spending money on Capcom stuff. Tbh I don't recall the last time they produced a game I would personally hold as a killer app.

I just feel that I'm missing out on something no matter what version I get. I'm just not a fan of DLC and a million different limited editions at all.

DLC should be treated like expansion packs were way back when. I bought the game, played the hell out of it, now a year or three down the line an expansion pack comes out and extends the game in new ways.

Diablo 2's expansion pack comes to mind as well as the Half-Life Opposing Force and Blue Shift releases. Duke Nukem 3D's Plutonium Pack as well as 3rd party Life's a Beach and Duke it Out in DC were pretty sweet too. Granted the latter two were more total conversions but were still awesome.
