B- Condition for Japanese Game

Has anyone on the forum ever shop with hit-japan on ebay, I see a game I would like to buy and the disc has a B grade ,would that mean that it has scratches? :smt042

Knowing the japanese standards for junk, it's probably got a couple of them, yes.

If it is a Japanese store with a honest seller.

i make some transaction with him and i was surprised with the quality of the product , you can considerate a "A" level of quality for US/Eur consumers ;)

I've had a few transactions with hit-japan, they are pretty reliable. B- should still be well within any collector's tolerances (unless you're one of the psychos that craves flawless mint) and will definately be playable with no hitches.

Especially if the B- is the Japanese standard of grading.

Anyone ever bought anything from Medialand? I've bought stuff that has manual and disc graded as B... yet I can't find a flaw on either... and I'm quite the stickerl... at least when selling.

No not psycho to a point :smt042 but at a certain price point I am more demanding. Now what I did notice about his ebay store was that his entire stock is graded B except his factory sealed stuff and that was A :-D The disc in question is my dream come true disc , "drum roll please" Shining PD :smt042

Stop with the A-B-C-D-E grading system already Japan.

Palese, what grading system would you go for then? Marks out of 10?

Or would you go for the style used by coin and comic book collectors?

Most sellers don't know the meaning of any of the grades. Did you know that if you say something is in good condition, it isn't really all that good at all? Good in video game terms would be something like:

CD based: obviously scratched disc, but playable. box may be cracked, manual could be a bit dog eared.

Cart based: worn label, maybe with a corner missing. battered box, perhaps a flap is starting to look like it may start tearing. possibly a small rip in the box. manual may be dog eared.

Doesn't sounds so good, eh? ;-)

In fact, I've seen many game collectors misuse this format of grading!

How hard is it to post the condition of a disc that your asking over 100.00 USD, Using the A-B-C grade system is just to cover one's ass and is left open to way to much interpertation.
The grade - B- says nothing about the condition of the disc to me, does it to you? And if it does what does it tell you?

As a former English teacher-type thing, I can honestly say that Japan has the highest shitty speaker to teacher ratio in the world.
