FZ-35S and GMC 2003.5
Finally I have put the GMC discs that I have since years in my FZ-35S and it doesn`t work.
It is something special that I must do?
Thanks in advance,
No, nothing special needs to be done. I have seen it take quite a long time to load on some units and on other units it loads relatively quickly.
When you say that it doesn't work, what exactly happens? Does it continue to say "Please Wait", does it say "Insert Disk", etc.?
It seems to read the disc (or try to read it) for a couple of seconds and then says "Insert Disk" again.
Do I need to plug a mouse to run the discs?
Nothing needs plugged in...you just insert the disc and wait for some minutes to load...

It seems that the original discs that I have are DVD+RW and that the internal DVD can not read them.
The internal DVD of my box is a Matsushita SR-8586-B.
IŽll copy the discs in DVD-R media and try again.
Perhaps someone knows if there is a firmware update for this DVD.
Problem solved. DVD-R works.
Would you be able to help out?
Is there any way you could upload the image of the M2 FZ-35S disc you have?
PM me, I have this and a dozen of other discs for the 35S on my ftp.
Hey, I hate to bring up a six month old post, but I was wondering if that offer you made was still on the table. I know we exchanged words a while back and never surfaced. Thanks for your time and effort, sir!
I would be interested in those disc images via FTP if there are still available.
So far I've been able to get my 35S to go from "Please Wait" to "Now Loading" and then a black screen with the Cadillac DVD. I have waited a few minutes, but nothing comes up on the screen, drive is still flashing.
How long does that one usually take to load?
On my unit the Cadillac DVD starts the first time by installing itself on the harddisk. Took about 15 - 20 minutes if i remember correctly. Your unit has no harddisk, i have no idea if it is even supposed to boot without one.
Tomorrow or the day after, i will open my unit again and disconnect the harddisk to check if it will still boot cd's. When it does, it probably means your unit is broken?
Interesting, thanks again for the info. A test without your hard disk connected will be very telling for sure.
As well, if there are any developers out there listening, is there any documentation on the dip switch settings?
Why don't you connect a small formatted IDE HDD to the 2nd connector and see what happens?
Any suggested HDD size?
Another issue is my 35S only has two power plugs. The large one is being used by the DVD-rom, and small one is free as I don't have the LS-120.
Since I don't own any FZ-35S (yet) I can just take a guess or use Google.
Here http://nfggames.com/forum2/index.php?topic=1114.0 it says:
"hard drive is a regular 20GB UDMA33 Quantum Fireball (LCT15-20) with single large empty FAT partition with no volume label"
Before experimenting with MOLEX Y-plugs to get power for the HDD I would ask an actual owner though, how his machine is set up.
I am trying to bring my 35S back to factory spec, as it had a BenQ cdrom in it, and I'm not sure what other changes were made.
Thanks for taking the time to do the investigation. I'm sure it will benefit not only me, but the entire M2 community.
I will test with dip switch #4 in the off position and see how it goes.
Unfortunately the Matushita 8586B DVD-rom that I was able to find seems to have issues, so I will have to do some testing with different brands of DVD-roms until I can find that model again.
That is, unless someone has a system that works properly with a different brand of DVD rom. Anyone?

I have a similar problem with my FZ-35S 1H1-M. I'm trying to run the Cadillac DVD.
Turn on the FZ-35S, put the DVD and waiting...
Please Insert Disc !
Black screen and nothing... no access, no activity...
I'm waiting again...
One access after 45 secondes and a screen with :
CIPIC CONTROL CENTER
Hard drive not detected
Suddenly, I had doubts. So I opened the box and there is a hard drive under the DVD drive. I don't understand. :-\
I tried differents things.
Disconnect the hard drive : Black screen, no activity.
Set DIP switch #4 to the off position : Black screen, no activity.
Connect an old WD1600 drive : After a long, long, long installation, the Cadillac disc works.
