Only a proof of concept for the PSP has been released, which as far as I know only does the (potentially hard) USB part. I just confirmed with my Palm Pre that these hacks do indeed work though.

Well, anyone using the stock 'backup manager' is sending their illicit title ID to sony everytime they start the game if connected, since it'll be checking to see if theres an update available for that ID, so I'd certainly say it's detectable

This thing is just a backup manager. It works in conjunction with the jailbreak techniques, but it is not jailbreak software itself.
Reading other forums for this stuff is a nightmare. Tons of 11 year-olds who don't speak english, frothing at the mouth, asking dumb questions that have been asked 100 times before. Questionable downloads without readmes or instructions. I guess I'll just sit back and wait a month for things to settle down and releases to be polished (with instructions).

I doesn't want to buy a second ps3 for homebrew only... if i could be bothered to have 2 plugged in i could just use the pc for homebrew and media player

Surprisingly the Pre version was relatively simple, enter a command in terminal and off you go. Here are some decent quality things for once ;)

Just so people are aware if you want to continue to use the PSJailbreak or PSGroove exploits do not update your PS3 to firmware 3.42. Sony has already blocked it.
Gah! Just as they announce people are working on NullDC and PSX2 Emu ports. Well I'm gonna play it safe for now and not update. Don't really use online that much anyway

That was obvious, specially when they postponed the bluray movies 3d support.
I just love how they say the "new" firmware "includes additional security features".
Sony, what about Cross Game Chat? Improved UI with customization? What about PS2Classics? What about PCEngine games?
I don't think i'll bother to update for now, not because of the whole jailbreak thing, but because it's just a patch and nothing new.
