Yup, it's connected to the PC-FXGA in the PC-9821.

He loves to play Konami's TMNT in Time with me.
I hear you and my wife would like to remind me how tolerant she is of my habit. :fresh: The wife does appreciate the sound system when it comes to listening to her favorite CDs in optical audio but not sure if the neighbors like how movies shake down the floor. Good job on getting the surround system through the door. I'm not allowed to bring in anymore hardware to the house (luckily there isn't anything else that I want!)

    Amazing setup, btw.
Yes, it's a prototype of an RGB modded N-GAGE that I've been working on with another guy in Japan. We've done NGPC and WSC which are in the other room with Lynx and N-GAGE on the table. These aren't cheap mods as they require FPGAs. In the case of the Lynx, it uses an STN screen so not sure how we'll progress on it.

I log into OnLive every weekend to check out the performance since there aren't dedicated servers in the region but I'm on fiber. I have a free game pass that I need to use but waiting for Crysis 1 or 2 to show up before using it so I can compare them to how my PC runs them. I do think it's an amazing piece of tech but the global internet infrastructure may not be up to task yet and it just needs more games at pricing that reflects the current retail market (eg Metro 2033 is $10-15 at retail). I haven't jumped for a subscription or any games since I already own the ones I want.

Any chance of some screenshots? Sounds like an Aladdin's cave you've got on the make there.

Screenshots of the mods in action or something else? The WSC and NGPC can be seen in the Darius shot. The WSC actually has a switch on it to change the screen to Tate for Judgement Silversword and similarly oriented titles.

Screenshots of them in action, if possible - possibly a new thread would be in order if you felt like it. Also, what was the hardware configuration to get the Darius image spread over three screens?

Sure, I'll take some pics when I get back in the country.

Darius is originally a 3 screen game in the arcade. The JAMMA harness just has 3 different RGB outputs, 1 for each screen. The Ninja Warriors runs on a similar setup. Rastan III and X-Men run on 2 screens but the latter uses a mirror in the arcade cab so it requires some monitor yoke rewiring.

I wasn't really aware of multiscreen cabs, albeit I'm not much of an arcade buff. Not a lot to go on in google image search either (for Darius anyway), guessing they weren't too common.

They weren'd that uncommon because the game was quite popular in both Japan and Western countries, but nowadays the original cabs have become scarce. There was one for sale in the UK a few months back, it went for as little as 200 bucks but one screen was faulty IIRC.

As for now, the only place I recall from my head where you could find a Darius 3-screen cab with 100% certainty is Try Amusement Tower in Akihabara.

The biggest problem with those cabs is that if one screen is messed up, it's very hard to find a replacement.

Oh, and that's one hell of a setup for Darius.

I'm pretty sure that Darius did not have a release in the US which is why Americans are quite unfamiliar with it. No US arcade I visited in the 80's had a cab so I assume it was UK and Japan only.

The 3 screens are my arcade/retro PC/CRT light gun game setup so it's not just for Darius. :) I usually tate the left one for any vertical games. The center and right monitor are then used for horizontal or 2 screen games. Looks like I'm only missing Darius II for true multi-screen games so if anyone is selling the 3 screen version, send me a PM!

    It most certainly did.
I saw and played the game (3 screen variant) at several arcades back in the day.
There was one arcade in particular that had the 3 screen Darius and Ninja Warriors games side-by-side.

    I'm pretty sure about that.
Considering that I physically saw two units at completely different locations.

It's one of those annoying mouse pads with the wrist rest...which doesn't allow for any movement at all without slipping off the edge all the time.

So it holds my Mega Drive pad like some fancy trophy instead :-)

So eventually I am going to post a thread showing off a lot more, but things won't be fully ready until the end of the month. Anyways I'm helping my friend open a video game store in Iowa real close to the Iowa State University campus, and we got most of our arcade machines fixed up and working today. We still have a Nintendo Vs. Red Tent (in storage), Ghosts 'n Goblins (just new wiring needed) and a Snow Bros. (monitor, wiring, paint, etc...) that will be in there eventually. I just figured some people would appreciate this though.
