Well, since Ocean closed shop I would guess that only folks that worked on it at the time and someone like me who had access to every third party game submitted for certification at the first party would have the game.

I still can't believe that this... out of all games is worth something.

This is typical for ASSEMblergames, out of nowhere and totally unexpected some unreleased stuff surfaces, I love this place!

Ha! While looking for an AV cable for my Saturn to make a Waterworld video, I found a Sega CDX unit I forgot I had. I'm sure those are worth some bucks.

    $100 easy if it works.

I too can't imagine Waterworld is an AAA level title but it'd still be fun to try out something that got canned.

I tried to boot it but it loads the Sega logo then goes back to the dashboard. I'll be bummed if it doesn't boot. I remember watching the intro on it before a few months ago and tossing it aside after making sure it worked. I am hoping it's just my Saturn since the one I have is a different one. Loading it on a PC gives me all kinds of "WWSEGA.DSK" files. The disc looks healthy so not sure why it's not booting. It reconizes it as a valid disc to boot, just won't go to the game. I'm going to keep trying though, maybe download a Saturn emulator for my PC.

It will kill my resale value and I won't be able to put up videos. That's kind of ass. :(

Maybe it's a region thing? You could try SSF for the PC.

I'm trying to get SSF installed on my PC while I type this on my Mac. My other Saturn was region free so I'm maybe that's it. I haven't messed around with an emulator before so it may take me a bit to get it going.

If it goes through the boot-up animation and then drops to the dash without anything else it isn't recognizing the disc, though it should indicate something about it not being a valid game.

If it displays the SEGA logo with the usual copyright info then it's recognizing the disc as a game and attempting boot. Usually if it drops to the dash at this point for some reason the Saturn has decided the lid was opened. Odd but it has happened to me many times in the past.

It recognizes it as a valid disc, attempts to boot, the SEGA logo in blue appears then back to the dash. Again, I could have sworn this worked on my older Saturn.

Aside from it flipping out from a problem with the lid switch I've never been able to track down any causes for that particular problem. And it probably would work on another Saturn, at the very least it doesn't sound like region issues.

Shame you aren't next door, I've got two Saturns sitting here. One 100% region free.

Just make a copy of the disc and change the region to match your console using one of the many saturn disc tools out there.

Yeah, it's not a region thing. You could adjust the laser if you know what you're doing.

Did I miss something, or isn't this the same guy that after sending that Geist Force disc in the stupidest way possible ended up disappearing never to be heard from again? And now he's back not having said anything since then, and no one seems to notice it :X

But I think we only got ASSEMbler's story about that (no proof of anything).

I think people said not nice things about him, but funny how that changes when he returns, or might have something they want now.

Not me. I couldn't give a shit about waterworld. I know it's going to be a piss poor game. Just look at who made it for proof of that. Still, I'm sure many people would love to see it in action.

No different to someone showing their face again here, with its ready-made audience of interested parties, when they realise they might have something worth a few quid.

The seedy / greedy side of gaming. The bane of the enthusiast. ;-)

(Perhaps Legit and Donny sorted their shit out, who's to say other than them.)

I just spent a couple of hours reading DonnyK's posts and wow, he seems like an awesome guy, answering all those questions and talking so openly.
At the very least, we should respect him no matter what happened with the Geist Force disc.

Meh? He isn't banned, he wasn't an outright prick so I'm not sure what my motivation to shun him is.

However I like fixing things and getting this disc to boot is a challenge to my manhood and must be tackled like Putin on a Grizzly bear. Though at this point it may be worth imaging the disc and trying it in an emulator to see if behavior changes.
