    Dreamcast Arcade Stick

Just bought myself one of these but I'm finding it pretty hard to master! Currently playing SF2 for Matching Service but can I f*ck pull off any special moves :smt009 :smt022

I have to admit I have bought it to try and improve my skills at the Arcade version (basically so I can kick my mates ass when we go into town!) :smt043

Having not really played Street Fighter 2 much in the arcade Im not sure whether its the joystick that is hard to use or its me thats shit at using it! (the later is most probable!!! :smt042 )

Basically just wondering what other peoples opions on the DC stick are! Is it good, close to arcade controls etc etc

Hope this makes some sence :-)

I personally hate arcade sticks in any shape or form - they're useless!!! Not just because I'm crap at using them - they just don't feel 'right' or comfortable enough compared to the default console controller.

I TOTALLY agree! However I have bought it to try and improve my skills when I play the coin-ops ;-) If it wasn't for this I would always use the controller as they are SO much better :smt045

..Yeah, I have to come out of the shadows and agree here. I hate using arcade sticks on fighters and stick to Saturn-style 6-button Treamcast pads for the DC (ASCII ones eventually I hope).

Only genre I use sticks for really are shooters. You NEED a stick for ZeroGunner 2!!!

What you need to do is rip out the joystick and put in a Sanwa. There's a great tutorial on how to do it... but is in Japanese. That stick has a great layout (da best!) but a crapp stick. :(

Flight sticks are another story though...Panzer Dragoon and Space Harrier with the Saturn Mission Stick kick ass.

GaijinPunch I miss your Japan Gaming sig particularly as I've always been too lazy to boomark the site and come here and click on your sig to get there. ;) Why not just make the auction guidelines tidbit a part of the jpeg (I used the primitive Prt Sc + Paint cut and paste formula) ?

I love my 2 Saturn arcade sticks :-D
It took me quite a while to adjust though - first, I used to practice SF Zero 2 with the pad and got quite adept at Ryu's / Ken's moves, then I got the arcade stick and I had to practice all over again - but it pays off in the end, I actually made it in the high scores of several SF2/HSF2/SFZ/SF3 cabs afterwards :smt033

the only pad ( in my view) for any fighting game is a saturn pad... i have a nice 'Total Control' converter so i can play them on my DC... very cool... had one for xbox too, called 'magic box'...

    :o)

Arcade sticks can vary, whats worse is when the joystick becomes loose(such as my offical arcade stick for dreamcast) still for some reason it seems easy for me these days to pull off moves on a controller then an arcade stick, but i still like the arcade stick set up myself.

I'd usually go for the normal controllers, but playing any 6-button fighting games (like any Capcom ones) on a primarily 4-button configuration like with the PS and DC controllers is just annoying, not to mention confusing.

Hello all. Just got back from 3 days in Jersey. Wooo.

Anyways, the DC arcade stick is a mighty bit of kit. Being a shmupper, I prefer to play those with a stick on all consoles. The Saturn Virtua stick is quality too. Gonna swap the buttons/stick in my Turbostick for sanwas.

However, all other games I use a pad for, except fighting games. As for fighting games, my missus decided LastBlade looked 'fun'. Now I've been ordered to build another stick and get LB2. I'm scared, she's damn good...

But I just really like the home arcade experience. Makes it seem so much better playing on a big screen with a proper quality stick.
