    Wondermidi Collection

    http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k122868068

Does anyone have any solid info on this?

Obviously tied in with / intended to be played around with by the Victor Wondermidi cart (for the Wondermega RG-M1). I assume it plays on a normal cd player too. Are there other WM collections?

I had no idea such a disc even existed. Judging by the logos on the disc I'd say it's a normal audio CD.

It's a CD-MIDI disc, they were produced around the 90s, CD-MIDI discs can be played on the Wondermega with the Wondermidi software.

Despite saying "Compact Disc" it's not a red book audio CD, all discs around this time normally had Compact Disc on them unless they fell into another CD standard and were marked accordingly. CD-MIDI wasn't a book standard so wasn't given it's own listing.

This disc was released at the same time and was intended to be a sampler CD for the Wondermidi software, it was Y3,000 at time of release.

Very interesting ! It means that it exists a player that would be able of playing midi files on Gen/MCD ? It has a dump of this cart ?

I am just curious to hear how midi format is sounding with Gen/MCD sound hardware :love2:

Should sound pretty good since Yamaha made the PCM in the Mega CD / Wondermega. The yamaha chip in the Saturn blew away anything at the time.

Windows 98se will recognise CD-MIDI discs and allow you to play them, at least my Toshiba Libretto did anyway...

Yeah, but playing midi on MD \ MCD sound hardware it's a bit more funny for me.

All the Megadrive/Genesis rom collections i've seen, do not include the Wondermidi cart. But when you google for it, you will find some reference to a dump that was once made.

I feel that Wondermidi works like another type of cartridge named Flux. These carts uses both Gen-MCD hardware for audio purpose... And off course, are hard to find.

Flux is a doddle to find compared to Wondermidi. Several copies for sale a year compared to a copy for sale every few years....

Nope, not me. Did see that Chinese Shinobi (Super Shinobi iirc) but thought it was just a hacked version of the regular release. Hope I didn't miss out on a gem!

Oh, and I see we both missed out on that Mega cdr lot.

Yeah, I was after taht Mega CD lot but wasn't really looking at entering a big war with another forum member. That's why I asked if it was you. That guy does buy odd stuff though. He once bought a Russian original MD game from me.

Wasn't flux only released in the PAL area? I've only seen that version until now. Btw.. there was also a music cd released for it, called flux trax.
What do you mean with "once i get them sent"? Did you buy that Wondermidi Collection CD and the Wondermidi cart??
