    iPhone Game recomendations

Like it or not, the iPhone is now classed as a gaming device by many. This is not a thread to discuss that matter so don't bother because I'll just delete your post. This thread is to recommend games or apps for the iPhone that others may find fun or useful.

So I'll start off this new thread with Ridge Racer Accelerated Ver.1.01.

The first version of this new iPhone racer had frame rates so bad it was deemed unplayable however ver1.01 is a vast improvement. Not only have Namco fixed most of the frame rate issues but also implemented new controls. The original version only had the stupid tilt system for driving which any gamer on the move will know is not practical. The 2 new control methods are either a slider bar or the one I like which is a D-Pad style option.

Namco have said that they'll be providing free updates and new cars and tracks throughout the year as well so things are looking good.

Check out the video I made right here.

    Games i'd recommend:

Peggle: most addictive puzzle game ever
Tyrian: They ported the classic 90's PC top down shooter to the Iphone with all chapters and extra's
GeoDefence: wonderfull vector graphic style tower defence game
GTA:Chinatown Wars: Hands down best looking smoothest nicest 3D game on the Iphone, can easily measure itself with the PSP game even with the touchscreen controls.
Zenonia: Wonderfull 16-bit sprite based 2D RPG/Adventure game, kinda like a mix between Zelda:LTTP and FF
Plants versus Zombies: Not uch to say about this game besides it's way way too addicitive
Taptap Revenge: Hands down best usic game for the Iphone and it's free as well

    Worms
Hero of Sparta is a nice hack n' slash.
Sky Force R is a pretty decent shmup.
Time Crisis is pretty cool. Arcade mode isn't very long, but it's only meant as a quick diversion anyway.

I'm looking forward to getting an iPad as that'll be much more suited to gaming. I'll finally be able to play Espgaluda II (it doesn't work on my 3G), and on a much better sized screen.

While I haven't played them. I hear nothing but praise for Space Invaders Infinity Gene & Chaos Rings.

I'm border line tempted to buy CR but i'm just going to hold out for a sale (as I really don't like gaming on my ipod touch), even if it's only $1-$2 off.

    -edit-
As big of a ridge racer fan as I am, I probably will never buy Ridge Racer Accelerated as it seems to be nothing more then a port of Ridge Racers PSP which i'd rather just play on a PSP.

On a side note, Don't buy Mr Driller. It's a bland port of the first Mr Driller and it doesn't control all that well. If you have a PSP just get it from PSN (sure probably 400-500Y more but the PS1 version of Mr Driller plays far better).

I wasn't too fussed on Time Crisis. It's a port of the Japanese mobile phone version that came out in 2007. It does run a bit faster on the iPhone but still..... A big thumbs up for Espgaluda II. If I never had it on my 360 I'd be all over the iPhone version.

Oh, yes. That is a very nice twist on such an old and to be honest, dull game. I played the lite version which is free. Quite liked it truth be told.

I would suggest Mega Man fans avoid the Mega Man 2 port. Because a port is exactly what it is, not emulated, and it's done pretty poorly. Quick touch controls just seem hard to do for platformers. Not to mention the engine is quite a bit different from the NES one.

Well, I can't even imagine playing MM2 on a touch screen...
Fieldrunners is a great tower defense game, and I don't probably have to explain Bejeweled 2 :-)

I tried the lite version of the Metal Gear Solid game once, and have to say it was pretty lame. Felt more like a thrown together Flash game than a real effort at an MGS game, even a simplified shooter.

    I like Icarus-X.
Not too hard for me yet hectic enough to keep my interest~

For racing nothing beats Real racing series IMHO.

    Also I like 6 Boat Racing which is freebie~ ^ ^

    Star Trigon!

And you should get the ESPGaluda II port even if you have the 360. It's not like you play one to replace the other. The iPhone version is for when you're stuck in one of those really fucking annoying Japanese lines.

Trism and Bejwelled 2 if you're looking for addictive puzzle games. I also second Peggle.

The Simpsons arcade game isn't bad either, it's a streets of rage affair with really nice visuals and a decent difficulty level.

And of course Counter-Strike when I get around to finishing it!

Yeah, I have the Simpsons Arcade game. While the muisc is bloody awful the speach samples are great. The game is also pretty good for a virtual joystick effort. I just wish they'd used sampled audio rather than the piss poor midi style crap.

The production of silence in art is an utopian enterprise.
If we disregard the alchimie du verbe, traditional language cannot capture the essence of what we attempt.
It possesses utility only so far as it can construct boundaries. Forgive me, but I truly believe that music encompasses more, not stumbling in logic and formality.

Choas Rings seems to be getting a lot of hits recently. Apparently its a good 3D rpg and its made by the creators of Final Fantasy and Wild Arms. Only downside unless you have a 3G or 3GS iphone expect a drop in framerate from time to time and its pretty expensive. Anyway heres Kotakus review

You just sold this to me. Respect for using the proper music too! Do you feel the touch controls are responsive enough to play properly?

Oh yes, you've got to use the propper tunes :)

The new D-Pad option is responsive enough but it doesn't feel right in the respect that there's no feedback from the pressing. You know, like when you press a D-Pad you can feel how hard you're pressing it. With the touch screen you don't get that feeling. Saying that, once you become use to the feel the controls are well done. In a normal car I can drift corners without a problem.
