    Headers and cables...

Basically does anybody know the size of the special dev headers on the 360 motherboards?

Why do I care? Call me crazy stupid whatever but I want to see if a sidecar will actually emulate a disc on a jtag console. And need the pin header sizes to do that, I've already cleaned the solder out of the holes just have no clue as the size I need to order.

Do I think it will work, um not really sure, will it bother me if it doesn't not one bit, will it be cool if it does, ugh yeah.

It will not work, Retails do retain some debug commands but it will not handle a sidecar.

I don't think it will but I want to know 100% for sure, it's the sidecar that actually does the emulating I believe since the sata cables go in and then come back out to the dvd drive, so in my theory it should, but in reality who knows without actually trying it.

Its the kernel the handels much of the debug execution of code, XBReboot and Freeboot are just retail kernel's patched. The last group of people I worked with did research on this aswell and only came up with fragments of debug code floating around but nothing that could be used ie sidecar emulation. I did bat around a few research ideas providing packets of the Remote PC emulation which could be used if coded into an app but sadly that research was never picked up.

If you're still interested hawk, check the last page of the XeDK dissasembly thread. I posted a MB layout for the sidecar a few weeks back.

Perhaps you would like to share some of the tecnical details of this "research" you did?

I know how to take it apart, I just need to know the size of headers to order, I know where they connect to on the board and all of that, I have some headers but they are too big for to fit where they need to go. Plus the headers are easy to install to boards for the jtaggin as well so might as well get some extras.

It wasn't my research it was research of a team I used to be on for a bit. They want nothing disclosed but afaik they looked into it as a side project and came up with squat. Or are you speaking of the remote PC research?

    "They want nothing disclosed"
    "and came up with squat"

So by "nothing disclosed" you mean,
"I just don't want you to look superior.."

Anyway back to the subject I would really like to order the pin headers and have the cables made sometime with week so I would like to know the size, normal headers are 2.54mm I believe but the ones that I'm needing are a good bit smaller then that, they are located at J1D2, J8C1, and J2B1. If anything it will just make it easier at reading writing the nand, plus it looks better.

It was not my research and I respect the people who do it. They could not come up with anything debug because there is nothing to debug in a retail unit if you could somehow emulate the dev fuses and run on that then I am sure you can use the sidecar throughholes other than that afaik unless something came up after I left the team they pretty much said that there is not much to work with. Also if you think this about superiority and dominance then I think you should go back to selling car insurance.

People need to show him some respect. This is for everyone, not just one person. We're here to share info. People who talk and don't deliver don't have ground to stand on. Respect those who do work.

I am thinking that those are either 1.27mm 2.00mm, I'm leaning more towards the 2.00mm.

Thats the ones that I ordered, the normal ones are 2.54mm and they really are not that much smaller, so I ordered them, and had some cables made. My demo USB nand reader hopefully will be here by the end of the week as well as my headers and cables, want to make it quick and easy to read and write the nand. I've installed headers every where I could with the normal sized ones all ready, just have to get the smaller ones. Don't ask me why I'm installing headers everywhere, I'm just preparing in case others are used...

You know, it amazes me how much shit you yap about without getting called out on this forum.
Anyway, I won't be the one to call you out.

J2B1: Debug header (RS232 for both kernel and SB; I2C/SMB for various things like ANA) [that's super mario bros for you, sondildo]
J1D2: SB SPI (SFC used with nandpro)
J8C1: CPU Jtag (don't expect too much from it)

The sidecar does nothing more than deliver game data (dvd emu) and performance data (pix ring any bells?) - you go girl!

And sondildo: if you can't answer what you're asked, don't put yourself in a position to be questioned. You're worse than giggles on xbh.

Jesus this section is getting worse. I work behind a lot of closed doors and just because I can't explain to you something because I was instructed not to does not mean I don't know a thing about it. Also I did answer the question, I said the team that looked into which is a popular team I might add said they came up with squat before I left. If it is your intent to be a complete and utter asshole this isn't a place for you. Its getting rediculous how people keep evading rules. If you can't be respectful then why are you here? I didn't just pull some shit out of my ass like I have been accused of before (and proved the accuser wrong might I add) this is what I have been told, I thought it would be a good idea to share that information before Hawk wasted a lot of his time. The point is you do not know who I work with and what I do behind closed doors and because I can't talk about it doesn't mean I'm making it all up. I'm not saying i'm right 100% of the time but I'm also not wrong 100% of the time either. This section mistake's sharing of knowlege as ego clashing or gaining superiority I'm not here to do that nor sound smart, I was here to help Hawk out.

One last time before I start deleting messages and/or locking more threads.

This is directed to everyone, not just a single poster.

    STICK TO THE TECHNICAL ISSUES.

If someone posts something incorrect, feel free to call out the factual/technical error.

Leave the personalities out of it.

And if you can't back up your claims with technical details, then don't bother posting.

If you're under NDA of any sort, then DON'T POST ABOUT SOMETHING YOU CAN'T/WON'T TALK ABOUT.

This is a place to share technical information and help others. It is not a place to insult other users nor is it a place to try and hint that you are "elite."

I don't really care what goes on at other sites. I don't really care who is on what "team." And I don't really care what one user or "team" thinks of another.

I just want you all to keep it clean and productive here at ASSEMbler. If that is too difficult a concept to grasp, the exit is always available.
