    Introduction to SG Homebrew/Dev?

I should be receiving my very first Sega Dreamcast very soon and I was wondering if anyone could help put me in the right direction for homebrew and possibly some simple development on a retail *If it's possible.* Also besides the Dreamcast is there anything else I'll need to full enjoy homebrew? If dev on a retail is possible then what hardware do I need?

    Thanks,

You last sentence, did you mean to say "If dev on a retail is NOT possible?"
They do have official dev hardware for the Dreamcast.. but damn is it expensive.
This will point you in the right direction.

My last sentence was correct. I was ask along the lines of if I need the broadband addon or what, but that guide has answered most of that.

Thanks for the link. Looks like I'll be taking the serial based path. Hopefully Maxim still supports the MAX3222CPN, free sample ;D

I would suggest going to dcemulation.org. The devs who used to hang out on dcemu.co.uk no longer do and boob is extremely old.

Nothing is actually needed for DC dev past a DC, a CD burner and some blank CDs. If you don't want to be burning CDs all the time though, you can build yourself a serial or USB cable. The BBA is the king of DC dev tools, but is expensive and somewhat hard to get ahold of for a reasonable price.

If you're a windows user I'd recommend getting fackue's DCDEV ISOv4. It's the best all-in-one set of DC dev tools out there.

I seen boob's guide for making the serial connection, but how would I go about doing it with USB?

You'd "simply" have to make a USB coders cable:
