Retrieving files from a KATANA HDD

Well I got my hands on a katana HDD with lots of data but I have somehitng I'd like to know, apparently it has 2 partitions ( the drive has 4 GB ) one of 2GB fat 16, and the other one another 2GB of an unknown format ( maybe GDM??? ) i don't know as windows won't recognise it...
Any ideas on how to retrieve the files from that partition if there are any?

Well... First thing you do is fire up Winhex and make a RAW DD dump of it (.001, not WHX as WHX is compressed/with header) then work on the dump while keeping the Katana drive safe.

well what I have done is a physical image from the hdd in vhd format, everything in the original hdd should be here as well.
    Now what?

I got all of the fat16 partition files and luck is I bet i can make it boot ;). But i don't knwo how to get the others in the other partition. Anyone ever done this?

I do remember of a time when the second partition of a katana hdd suddenly became visible... but I don't remember with what I was messing at that time :)
Maybe have a look a the administrative tools to watch the partitions of your hdd ? (I wouldn't touch the partitions though... there should probably be a way without affecting the data on the hdd)

is the hdd in the devkit, or did you connect it directly to your scsi card ?
    It might react differently...

I made a physical image of it, so I don't have to mess with it again and the data remains safe there.

Okay turns out that there was no other partition, I already have all the data, it's an unreleased game in a somewhat quite complete status more than 685 MB of files in one of the builds... Luckily there's a 1st_read.bin, I'll see if I can make it boot...

Funny to see everybody is waking up when there is a mention of "unreleased game"... or is it just a coincidence ? :)

Well I can't disclose that information yet as it might risk the few chances it has of being released, but I will do my best to try and convince my contact.

I think people wake up at the sound of a new unreleased game because .... well.... it's an unreleased game :)

Many members would like to help you, my self included but to be completely honest a lot of us have no idea how to help.

I can help you make the files into a self booting bin/cue for testing if that's where you're stuck. I'm on the edge of my seat.
