Does Bleemcast support VGA output? If so, does it do a good job and how crisp do PSone games look on an LCD monitor?
I have a problem with this release. My dreamcast cannot read the disc. Any instructions on how to burn the image? I used DiscJuggler 6 Free Edition like I did it with several BoR-images before.
The creator of Bleem used to contribute on an old Dreamcast forum I used to read. I forget which now but hopefully someone else might be able to fill in the blanks. His name was Randy Linden, and according to wikipedia anyway, he ended up working for SCEA in 2005.
The copy protection measures they used on the Bleem DC disks were discussed a couple of times with him (not with the intention of breaking them), merely from a copyright point of view if I remember corectly. I also seem to remember he was a user of the assembler computing language.
For those interested in the leaked beta, a discussion took place here:-

Great link and nice to see some of the info.. Wow 30% completion on the leaked Bleem. No wonder why no saving, slowdowns and everything were present. I only wonder what Bleem would have been like completed and if it could run most ps1 games flawless. :katamari:Originally Posted by Metro Spy

So how much better is this new GTA2 version? Is it even hacked yet to run other games, or is it still stuck with only GTA2?
Seems like it's got potential to be a much better emulator than the leaked beta.
I have it, but yet to try it no cd-r's hehe I was told it's much better than the beta and I believe it only works with GT at the moment but who knows whats coming :love2:Originally Posted by Bramsworth

I'm hoping it's a more complete version from the beta. A much MUCH more complete version.
This would have been a great product if they sold it as an all game emulator. Why they went game exclusive is beyond me. :(
Blame Sony for this :DOH:Originally Posted by Bramsworth
It's much easier to perfect your emulator first for one game, programming wise.Originally Posted by Bramsworth

When the doctor asked me, if I heard voices in my head, the voices said "tell him no!"
Have they not just broken the copy protection, basically just allowing a backup copy of the original Bleemcast disk to be burned and then booted?
Surely it's going to be even more complicated to reverse engineer the code to potentially get other games working? Which is an entirely different matter.
From what I remember from discussions with the creators (on other forums), they'd managed to build in copy protection using a variety of different measures. I'll have to take a picture of the back of the CD as it's very cool and unusual.
That's exactly what's happened, yes.Originally Posted by Metro Spy
It's an emulator, i.e. it pretends to be hardware. If it "pretends" to be a PlayStation well enough to run GT2 there's a very good chance it'll work for other games too.Surely it's going to be even more complicated to reverse engineer the code to potentially get other games working? Because they couldn't test all games to work properly. Even these 3 which have been released have a faw bugs and because they could not update the emulator once it was sold. So they decide to go with special release for each game even then testing GT2 took 2 months before release and still have major bugs.Originally Posted by Bramsworth

Hello all
Just thought I'd go for the oldest thread resurection of the week!
Basically I was thinking about some of the individual 'bleemed' PS1 games that are available for the Dreamcast and started looking for more Bleemcast info and this thread was in my search.
Obviously i guess if it could be done it probably would have already been but anyway: could the save part of the officially released Bleem discs be grafted into the beta? The beta is pretty cool and good for some games that I would play but no saves is a real downer thats all.
I also wanted to know if a PC equivalent of the bleempod was released anywhere in the world? I have seen the product images of a bleem branded product with a usb adapter.
I remember Rand Linden being active of dreamcast history years ago and once an auction was mooted by another Bleem employee, David, and he was supposedly going to sell some prototype stuff off. did anyone here buy any of the proto Bleempods he had for sale?
I would be happy with just the analog working, as the Dpad on the DC controller is a son of a bitch for the Bleemed betas.
As you have already guessed by now, creating a self booting version of GT2, Tekken or MGS on a hacked iso of the full game, or reverse engeneering the code from these offical games is not possible, we would need Rand himself to help with the coding, and this late in the game we should be happy with all the betas we got to work in the first place.
I think it would be great to list some of the betas that are working perfect, or near perfect as most menus and FMV's are always glitchy.
I know for a fact Klonoa and Strikers 1942 work nearly perfect, and have full AA and support VGA as well.

It's possible (the Bleemcast retail discs got hacked a while back), whether any compatibility would be there or how much work you'd have to put in to get them working with other titles... who knows.
If you search for "bleemcast compatibility list" without quotes on google you might be pleasantly surprised ;)I think it would be great to list some of the betas that are working perfect, or near perfect as most menus and FMV's are always glitchy.
I remember finding selfbooted Bleemcast discs cased on the betas, with one game per disc. I know R-Type and a couple of other shooters got converted and worked well as stand-alone discs.
What about the Total Control Plus
Play-asia sell them £12.00 seen a couple of videos on youtube of them playing DC games but not heard of anyone using them on the official Bleems or the Beta. I think they support Analogue sticks buts not sure if they support L3 R3 and select as these are problematic from what I have read from old posts etc. I did read somewhere that someone tried the earlier total control unit on the MGS Bleem but it went all glitchy, so who knows
very impressive that they accomplished cracking them finally id love to hear from the russian team, how they accomplished it.
It was a single person's work. Cracked in pure SH4 disassembly, 100% reverse engineered from scratch.
A real masterpiece!
