    Anyone got the sega ad?

I'm looking for a video file of the old European Sega television ad... the one that went....

To be this good takes AGES

then I think sonic ran across, span the letters around to read SEGA.

    :-)

    Anyone??

Those Mega Drive adds are really hard to come by. Even harder are the European Master Systen ones. Much better than those "The Action Will Always Be There" adds from the US :smt009 There are just so 80's. Master System adds in the UK were well beyond their time.

Yeeah... I think its time to look through some old vids... although my family had a habit of pausing through ad breaks wherever possible :smt009

Still lame as hell though, yeah.

I have an Australian Game Gear ad like this, nothing Euro though.

I was mistaken, it is a UK advert.

Also posted this elsewhere, working downloads from an archive of old SEGA Saturn-era saturn/Genesis/GG video/audio download site.

    Thanks for the movie!!!

Unfortunately, its not the one I was thinking of... actually I don't remember this one at all! Still, it was nice to see one from that slogan campaign again :-)

As for the saturn movies... great! Lovely to see some beta shots :smt023

Japanese/NA. He is looking for European stuff with the 'To Be This Good Takes AGES' campaign.

Is it the one where they throw a Playstation from the top of a building and say "Fly Plaything, Fly"? If it is, I have it and it's only 3 mb.

    Saturn Promotion

Yceman, what you described is actually the American television spot for NiGHTS. I once had the entire "Demonstration" series of UK adverts on a tape (along with various other Sega-related clips), but sadly this has long since disappeared. For those not aware, I moved out of my old house last year under very bad circumstances and have still not been able to reclaim most of my old possessions - if that tape does still work, it's unlikely I'd ever be able to find it now anyway!

From what I can remember (and this really is testing my memory, since I was only a kid back then), the "Demonstration" series - which has never been uploaded anywhere yet to my knowledge - appeared during the Winter '96 promotional campaign, and featured adverts for NiGHTS, Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition, Sega Worldwide Soccer '97, Fighting Vipers and Virtua Cop 2. Although I can't guarantee that the following quotes are 100% accurate, here is a brief lowdown of each commercial:

    NiGHTS
"Demonstration number one. How to execute a paraloop..."

    Daytona CCE
"To execute a handbrake turn, brake, turn and accelerate..."

    SWWS '97
"Now, ____-san will demonstrate the overhead flick..."

    Fighting Vipers
(Something about smashing your opponent out of the ring.)

    Virtua Cop 2
(Targetting enemies in their legs allows scope for multiple hits.)

There was also a series of print commercials that ran simultaneously to these adverts, and I know for definite that most - if not all - of these are available to download. Again, here's a rough guide of their contents:

    NiGHTS
"Puffy the opera singer delivers a deadly aria, only to head backwards through a wall (only in your wildest dreams.)"

    Daytona CCE
    "Road Rage"
(There were actually TWO variations on this advert, featuring Sea Side Street Galaxy and Desert City as their backgrounds respectively. I really don't know if the catchphrase was the same for both, though it was definitely used for the Desert City version.)

    Fighting Vipers
"Storm in a D-cup." (This works rather well as a caption for an image of Candy/Honey, don't ya think?)

    SWWS '97
"Kick off ?" (Without having it in front of me, I can't remember the release date that follows these football-themed words.)

    Virtua Cop 2
"Look me in the eyes and say you love me." (The evil-looking criminal depicted in the accompanying mugshot definitely isn't the sort you'd want to show the parents - unless they are in "The Family," that is!)

I'm sorry to devote so much space to these adverts, but it's a real shame that they haven't received more attention from Sega fans in general, especially when you consider that the general belief is that the company didn't advertise enough in the UK - the very existence (and possible re-emergence) of the television clips in particular would prove many people wrong when it comes to the supposed complacency of Sega when it came to marketing the Saturn.

P.S. A selection of the print ads can be found at http://www.segacollection.com/specials/satad.html and http://www.sega-saturn.net/downwerb.htm, though sadly it seems that Fighting Vipers is missing. Still, if you've got the particular issue of the official UK Saturn magazine with this as its back cover then you won't be disappointed...

I have a lot of those Sega Saturn ads on VHS, if it wasn't for the fact my capture card is shite and I don't have a standalone VHS player, I would dump them gladly.

I have the game, I must say it's not much in terms of gameplay (lots of loose minigames based on the commercials, they're not very interesting) but due to its nature it's still a must have :smt043
And, it contains the Segata Sanshiro radio shows that have never been ripped, I think! I have yet to find them though (LOTS of Kanji in-game)

If there's enough interest yeah, I know 100% I have the Fighting Vipers and Daytona adverts on one particular tape.
