PS3/PSN Regional Curiosities

My PS3 (80GB) was purchased in HK about 2 years ago. On the whole I have had no problems using it in the UK with my European PSN until recently....

-Trials of Topoq hangs on the "London Studio" Screen, requiring console reboot
-Flower refuses to load and returns me to the XMB
-Vidzone hangs the console, requiring reboot

While I appreciate I am probably using both the PS3 and the PSN outside of the Terms and conditions I am slightly annoyed that the PS Store allowed me to purchase games which do not work with my console.

Can anyone provide any info as to why Flower, for instance won't work on the HK console? Are regional releases technically different [asides language]? Are there still PAL/NTSC issues despite this brave new HD world we all live in?

I never had problems downloading and installing/playing stuff from other regions like US or JP store while I own a EU PS3, personally I can't imagin this being an issue.
Maybe your PS3 is starting to develop other problems?

sounds like it's got personality issues. Do other people who own an HK PS3 complain about the same symptoms?

Sorry to hijack, does anyone know if you buy a PS1 game on the Jpn Store will it play on a US console?

I've bought games from the EU store and played on HK console so I don't see why not...

The only problem I had was UK PS1 games wouldn't play from the PSN on my Japanese console.

I can confirm buying a couple of jpn psn ps1 games and working fine on a pal ps3.
