Its obviously to late to save your warranty now but iFixit already did a tear down and you can see all the naught bits here: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/PlayS...-3-Slim/1121/1
    Only you can prevent asshatery.

Aye, I saw that the other day - I'm not fussed about the warranty though :)

I wasn't intending on writing a teardown report.. thats far too much effort. :) I've just been trying to scan boards for all systems to keep for my own reference.

I've gotta say though, this is a nice system to work on. There were probably no more than a dozen screws to take out to have the unit down to the bare board. The drive mechanism looks much more robust than previous models, and less prone to jamming.
I reckon heat could well cause problems for this system. While it still has a big old hunk of heatsink and fan in there, the intakes are almost non-existant, and it draws it out through the tightly packed PSU at the rear of the unit. Any time spent sitting above a dusty carpet will see this unit cooking itsself to death.
That said - I'll reserve judgment for the next 6 months till we see how many come back for repair. :)

Anyway.. heres the scans for the new slim.

If you want the full 1200 DPI scans, including the BDROM Board, you can get them here (29MB).
