Wanting to buy a Dev 360 and/or PS3, Advice needed!

    Hi all,

I'll very shortly be in the market for an xbox 360 and PS3 that's capable of playing review code that gaming magazines recieve. But because of the costs involved, I'd really appreciate some advice beforehand on what to look out for when they appear for sale on Assembler (to ensure I don't buy the wrong thing!).

What type of 'dev' 360/PS3 will play preview/review code (as I understand there are several types of 360's available)? Are there any specific things I should be looking for to ensure I'm buying a working, capable machine that I can start using from the get go?

I understand the kernal to the 360's need updating every so often, which is something my magazine contacts will be sorting me out with (the update discs that is). Can such 360's be played on PartnerNet without any worries if they're bought 'in the wild'?

And what prices would be a fair guideline for a suitable working 360/Test PS3?

Any and all advice/help would be fantastic!:pray:

I'll talk about the 360 since I don't know anything about the PS3 Devs.

All 360 dev types will run review/preview code.

360's bought "in the wild" can be used on pnet without worry. Make sure the seller provides proof that the unit is not partnernet banned. It's rare, but some people have done stupid things and got banned from partnernet.

Generally, 360 kits sell for around $1000.
