replacing the whole screen with a suitable LCD will be quit pricey ;)

Heh, depends on how big of an LCD you want. You're not so much limited to putting an LCD inside the case that the Old screen used. Should just be a straight R,G,B,Sync connection to the screen, so...basically any TV with a VGA style connector or SCART (If you're sticking with standard resolution) would be a good swap out. Just junk the whole TV unit and hook the pedestal to whatever TV you want.

It would make a bitching supergun.A huge one...but no doubt it would be great. With RGB and a true arcade control panel...it would be pretty sweet. Wouldn't have to feel like you were really comprimising anything.

Forgot to mention that I've played on one of these before. Tis' fun. Like a regular arcade game, but ridiculously giant.

I could always just attach a large pole to the rear of the seating area, have a projector attached to the top and then turn up on dark nights on various street corners fire up a white sheet and charge for the mobile arcade experience

In fact, weld a scooter to it and hey presto it's even more portable! :033: :oh: :033:

    :oh:
Why not just get a new projector then? Even PC World does one for about £330 now I think, just need to worry about it not being reversed :P A lot cheaper than a 50in LCD though...

Are you sure it's 3 lamps and not 1?

The manual restricts itself to the basics and has nothing at all about the screen. All of this might be mute as the vendor did say the screen worked well - but then failed to send any images, plus it's coming up from Wales. Never really sure how well these RPTV units travel.

Even then, surely the display wouldn't be super-mega-ultra proprietary... It's basically a bigscreen TV, right?

This item arrives on Tuesday this coming week so I shall take some good photos etc. It's not something with a huge amount of information on it, so I'll do my best to document this as I go.

The Arcade in the Metrocentre Gateshead used to have four of these, sadly it no longer exists. I wonder where they went.

The Naomi 50 turned up yesterday, but I didn't have time to really do anything with it, so I got up at 5am this morning to have a look.

I would appear that there really isn't an awful lot I need to do with this unit.

It's very comfortable, but needs a better screen. I removed all the old artwork, stuck in new buttons and put on new ball tops until the replacement sticks arrive.

Some new bulbs (coin mech and above monitor) and then cleaned it up. That was pretty much all I needed to do.

I did adjust the PTV, however the picture is not so great. I can't get the coloration right, plus it's slightly out of focus. I think it needs to be adjusted, but none of the pots on the front really change a huge amount.

The seating section houses 2 x sub woofers hidden under the left and right hands sides of the seat itself. In the main cabinet are 2 x low pass filters and a stereo amplifier. There are a further 2 x speakers in the PTV section. The sound quality is surprisingly good, however one of the low pass filters has been removed so at the moment I am missing a channel.

The amount of room under the CP itself is huge. That's where you stored A) the manuals & B) the lock brackets that are optional (they are supplied, but not necessarily fitted)

The seating section houses the main components, rather than the screen.

Bags of room inside one of these if you really fancied a large MAME unit.

    That is beautiful Parris.

Some of those old Sega screens (I see them at the Gameworks all the time) are blurry and have awful color. Those screens go to crap over time. I don't have one myself so I'm not exactly sure why. I will ask the tech at Gameworks if he knows what causes that.

Even a manual would be good as I can't find much information on how to adjust it. There is a large sheet of paper inside the cabinet, taped just to the side of where the adjustment pots are warning you to check in the monitor manual on how to adjust it as 'the earths magnetism' can apparently affect performance.

    Thanks ;-)

I will ask the tech. I'm not sure they would give me a manual, but at least maybe a photocopy or a place online that tells how to adjust them. I am hoping to go by there tomorrow night, but not sure if a tech will be onsite or not.

Not the best quality video, looks overly blue sadly, but should give an impression of the size of this damned thing! A mile of control panel ahoy! Also, I can't video and control anything at the same time. The actual game when played is fantastic - a really good shoot em up - Zero Gunner 2.
