Thread: Your worst bug moments

Silent Hill Homecoming - There's this bug on the Asian version of the game when you play it on a Japanese PS3. The game is in English and mixes up the circle = confirm and cross = cancel button configuration. This makes it impossible to enter the code on the keypad lock in the first hallway in the game.

Konami still has not released a patch for this.

Wow, insane. That game is pretty buggy. I don't get how Silent Hill became the town whore that all these weird companies keep making games for. Homecoming might be alright if it wasn't so lame half the time.

The Steam beta. I loved having to wait 20 minutes to launch Counter Strike, only to have it either crash or not launch anyway.

One of the more recent one's that comes to mind is Deus Ex before the first patch was released. Came across a situation where you need to find Paul in the underground MJ-12 facility in order to gain an access code to be able to leave the facility. Only problem was...every time I would reach the section all the guards would be on high alert for no reason, running around shooting at nothing, and of course Paul wasn't on the morgue table, even though I had saved him previously.

This made it impossible to progress any further since you had to trigger the event in order to input the code, even if you already knew what the code number was.

Just had to restart my game over, since I couldn't seem to find any save states at the time.

Oh god, the game barely even run without the patch. Try installing it on a modern computer and playing without patching it. It runs at a very low frame rate.

Haha, yes it had quite a few problems. I have actually installed it again in recent times without the patch, just to see what else I could find as far as bugs.

When you go to Hells Kitchen for the second time, I discovered some of the Unatco guards would literally just disappear until basically walking right into them. Obviously that makes it pretty hard to be stealthy, when they're still walking around, but you can't even hear or see them until they're right in front of your face.

Thank god they fixed it all with a patch. If only developers of other buggy games could patch them out *cough* stalker *cough*

Very true. Although with a game the caliber of Deus Ex, I was more than willing to forgive them. Game crippling bugs and all. :icon_bigg

What's even more retarded than that is NTSC-U (and I assume Euroe releases) using X as the "okay" button in the first place. X... the universal sign for "bad" means "good". Thanks, dipshits.

It sounds like to me though the game takes the button input direct instead of the mapping. Have you tried setting your system langauge to Japanese and trying again?

I had been playing house of the dead 2 for about 30 mins in the arcade, and a person joined in. We were on the last boss. I died and raced to put my coin in to continue and as I hit 2P the boss died.

I wound up playing a very half hearted and lonely feeling first stage on that credit...

The PAL version of the emulator crashes every time you complete the second stage. The US version works fine. And of course, the BC was updated a few times after Orta was added, but the bug was never fixed :banghead:

From what I've heard, the Collector's Edition N64 emulator can cause glitches and even freezing in MM and OoT, but I've also heard conflicting opinions on this..

No it is just the MM game that is crap, the sound is messed up and sometimes it freezes.
I've had it crash several times just after finishing great bay temple :banghead:
    OoT works fine.

Anyway, about bugs. I had some problems with Redsteel before. Don't know what the cause was but sometimes the textures would not load correctlyso the wholeplace looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. Also had alot of bugs in GTA3,vice city and san andreas, mainly with textures.

Sonic The hedgehog XBOX360, that game is waaaay hard due to its bugs.
If you don't fall here, you get stuck there and so on... you have to MEMORIZE THE WHOLE LEVELS to be able to dodge bugs...

i haven't had a problem with it yet. even on MM. guess i'm lucky

most epic bug/crash i ever heard of was a guy playing Oblivion and he sat down in a chair and it completly crashed

as for ones experianced by myself. Go into debug mode in sonic 2 on the gamecube collection. Spawn the hornet enemies in great amounts. and poof. frozen gamecube

I remember it wasnt a real crash but i shit my pants all the same, That game for GameCube where at a certain part there would be a BSOD. I threw my controller at the wall because it said something along the lines of Your Memory cards may have lost data

I remember renting Sonic 3 as a kid and getting to a certain part in Canival night zone where suddenly, I went through a wall and couldn't get out. I could move left and right for about 3 seconds either way. It was my own little secret hole that I had no way of escaping. Had to wait for the timer to run out so I would die.

    I've done that!

Damn, maybe I should have used VC for the Zeldas....I figured the GC one would be better because of the higher res.
