The DTL-H2510 Cable

I think I actually have a possible solution to this little problem.

If you don't have that proprietary cable that is needed to connect the CD-ROM drive (DTL-H2510) to the developer board (DTL-H2500 or DTL-H2700) it is possible to make the two connect.

You will need to purchase 2 of these HD50 (or Micro D) expansion slots to 50 pin IDC cables such as this here or here or here (sorry I couldn't find any links other than ebay at the moment). You will also need to obtain a 50 pin IDC or SCSI ribbon cable commonly used with SCSI CD/DVD drives.

The expansion cover part will have to be removed by removing the screws on the HD 50 pin side. You may have saw off the liltle clips that keep the external cable attacthed...but that's certain better than trying to solder 50 wires to both the card and the cd-rom drive. Also since there is no notch on the connector to card or drive you need to make sure that don't reverse the pin mapping (pin 1 on the card connects to pin 40 on the drive.)

Now if I only had a solution for the external CD-ROM. (I have the drive but no cable. ) :banghead:

You can actually get the exact connectors that sony used, I tracked down the part number a few years ago. I was going to get some cables made but I've got a couple now. I do have a load of drives without cables, but I might use them for laser spares.

If I remember when I'm in the room with my external drive next I will take a look at the cable to see how it's wired up. Although I'm pretty unreliable right now, so if someone else comes up with the info then thats good too.

I do have the DTL board connector part figured out (or at least I think i do). This is a Yamaichi Electronics NFS-40A-110 or NFS-40A-111. See this link.

For the External CD-ROM connector I think a 3M 10140-6000 EC should work (MDR must a standard of some time). See this link

Really? I thought LVD cables always had 68 pins (I suppose you could cheat and cut the plastic end off both the drive and card). Where do you find female to female cables? For some reason the cables always have male ends...and there are crap loads of those cables everwhere. Heck I don't know I could be wrong on this entire thought.

female female cables were used for external scsi cases ! ( ok they are hard to finde these days , at the local electronic shop i picked up all of them just to have them ;) )

Hi,
i get an DTL-H2010 and i need an cable too :DOH: . I open up the Drive and see there is an TDK CD-R inside :love2:. But i dont can get them of without starting up the Unit.

I see some DTL-H2000 where the CDRom cable is direct solder on the the board. But i dont find an 40Pin Micro NONSCSI? plug for the CDRom side.

Is that not for an SCSI to IDE 40 Pin? It dont looks like micro. Have you buy some before? The Pic dont show the 40Pin.
