Did anyone see the 3 programmes over the past few nights?

I was a little disappointed.........................not as good as the originals

Yeah it was quite disappointing but hopefully it gathered enough interest to convince networks to fund season 10.

I actually thought it was quite good :).

Granted it had lost a little of it's magic and such, but still had some great moments.

No jokes + rehash of an old story made for a show that had no real reason to go back to.the sets where fantastic it looks great but that just wont do.there was no real point to the 3 new shows really.

Yes, it was very disappointing. To be honest, it went downhill when Rob Grant left - series 7 wasn't that great, and the same goes for series 8. Perhaps that's down to Doug Naylor's scriptwriting not being so good solo, perhaps it is down to the increase in special effects, location filming and all that goes with not filming in front of an audience. I think it looks too slick and doesn't feel right now - especially without a laugh track.

I don't think they'll continue with it. This was a one-off anniversary thing. They know it has run its course. The cast look quite a bit different now. They wanted the film to happen but it never did, and probably never will now. It is better off left alone.

I've been waiting for these, being a big Red Dwarf fan (not the nerdy type, mind you) so I'll have to download these from the Pirate Bay or something since there's no chance these will be shown in Japan.

It's good to see i'm not the only one who was dissapointed with the 3 ep back to earth special. The comedy was far from the level i was used from the show not to mention i really missed the audience laughing track that always set the mood so well.

Yeah, exactly - that's what I meant by SFX... was trying to be too general with too specific a term! More computer jiggery-pokery, widescreen hi def film look and just more budget in general. It's a shame that they feel they have to compete by updating old shows that had cardboard aliens and such. OK, it worked for Doctor Who, but not really for Red Dwarf.

I've just watched the 3 parts back to back and while it wasn't as good as the classics there were still a few parts I laughed at. The missing laughter track is what seems most odd at first but by the time the 3rd episode had come around I had forgotten all about it. Over all not too bad I thought. I also loved the Blade Runner idea and was surprised to see they even ripped off the original ending to Blade Runner that was cut from the final release.

The key word is a FEW laughs, though. A three parter that runs for two hours shouldn't be giving just a few laughs. And that's exactly what I found myself doing - only laughing a few times.

The whole finding themselves idea was interesting, but it turned into just finding Craig and that's it. And to be honest, any idiot could have come up with the Coronation Street thing. Oh, and then there was "the creator" who wasn't Doug! Disappointing.

I'm sure that if the laughter track was present it would have seemed much more funny. The same thing happened with the black Adder 2000 special. No laughter track so the whole thing felt very strange and not funny at all.

I think you mean just over 1 hour, mate. each part was way too short I though at only 23 minutes. That was dissapointing for sure.

i agree. Also the guy who played the creator was a bloody awful actor as was the Chinese guy. their intonation was just way off what it should have been.
