Help with Turbo Grafx 16,Turbo Duo,and PC Engine Controllers

I have a Turbo Grafx 16 (w/ CD addon) and want to use the 6 button PC Engine controller but I heard that the Duo and Pc Engine use the same controllers but you can't use them on the Turbo Grafx is there any way I could use the 6 Button controller on the Turbo Grafx?

I did look on ebay and nothing is there. Any where else I can find one or how to make a homemade one, or if you can make me one (I'll buy).

    Don't forget the DUO-RX pad

Looks just like the PC-FX pad

If I recall right, there wasn't a 6-button controller made for a TurboGrafx-style connector, but I could be wrong. The adaptor in question was a simple short length of cable that converts allows you to use Turbo Duo/PC Engine-style Mini-DIN controllers on a Turbografx with a DIN plug. I wouldn't imagine it would be very hard to hack on up, if you got the right pinouts.

Just pulled it down to look at it and I was mistaken...looks like the one I have has been modded (really good job though)...I'd be interested in seeing a pic of the adapter people are talking about...I've never seen one..

Who modded your controller, I would take either a cable or the modded one, just as long as its a 6 button one.

Yeah, using the link Kyuusaku left and going with the controller pinouts on the top of the page, you should be able to hack up an adaptor with a Mini-DIN socket, a DIN plug and a little wire - I don't believe you'll need any special chips or resistors as the official adaptor, if I recall right, is just a small length of cable.

Most offical NEC units had unpluggable wires so you could just opena JP or Duo unit and swap the cable with a US pad.

There aren't many pins, and they're all compatible but for the shape of the connector. Even if you've got an oddball controller you can make an adaptor in ten minutes with the use of nothing more sophisticated than a multimeter (which anyone who wants to hack anything should already have).
