Very strange image in Border Down

I was capturing some video footage of Border Down for my site today when I noticed a 1 frame image appear during the introductions. Take a look!

OK, the intro runs fine up until this frame pictured below, ends.

Next the following image is displayed for 1 frame only!

The following frame continues the introduction as normal.

At first I was thinking that the 1 frame image was left in memory from a part of the intro shown before but it's not since that image isn't even used. Where did it come ? Why does it suddenly appear then disappear? And is this image used elsewhere in the game?

Animators in Japan do that frequently.

Usually stuff like this is something they are just sneaking in as an inside joke or to mess with you. If other stuff was flashing through I'd say it means something.

But if it's just one frame it's probably just sneaking something in or hidden reference amongst the staff.

Might be a reference to the missing birds at the start of level 1 in the DC version.

Hmm, yes, the idea of the programmers throwing it in as a reference or joke is possible I guess. It's strange that I've never noticed it before though.

I'll be adding the video to my site tomorrow so feel free to check it out for yourself to see if you can notice it as the video is running.

I'll be able to have a look and see whether it was left in the 'cade version next week.

Yes, please do. Also anyone else with the DC version, please check your copy. You'll have to keep an eye open though. Like I said, it's only 1 frame or at least on the capture it's only 1 frame.

Can one spot it by just normally watching the intro? One frame is afterall just a small part of a second so it could be easily not be noticed by anyone.

PS: Maybe its a reference to Doki Doki Idol Star Seeker? I never played the game so I don't know if there's anything similar to the scene displayed in that one frame, but just according to the anime/puzzle theme I could imagine it could look alike an artwork in Star Seeker.
<- can someone please make this as a repro and sell it so me?

It's also in this video at 0:49:

Pretty interesting. When you see it for the first time it can't be unseen.

Looks like a scene from Monty Python to me.....

Maybe the developers are raving Python fans?!!!

Yep, that's the one. to be honest it looks easier to spot in that You Tube clip. maybe something to do with the fps rate? Still, it's very strange that I've never noticed this before when I'd play the game non-stop.

for sure it has to do with the fps. as long the picture is not completely dropped in the yu0tube vid, it will be easier to spot.

as i'm aware, BD runs in fuul 60fps. so one frame would be a 1/60 second. but still enough to see it, if you know it's there.

ah, my video is captured at 30 fps so it's probably easier to see on that than the actual game.

ASSEMbler is right, they always do that.

Ever see Evangelion during the last two episodes or the end parts of the movies? They went overboard on that crap to the point of making it seem pointless with their "Pseudo-deepness."

I thought Evangelion had some pretty cool mecha fighting scenes, but the story is shit and it tries really hard to be deep but just ends up feeling pretentious and shallow.

It could have been SO much better.
