Yakumo yes you are confusing it with Take the Bullet. Darkportrait please stop asking for builds of things. If its out there then you can search the forum to find it. If you search and havent found one then its likely not released and its going to take more then someone asking for it.

Yummy, we need more betas =D Instead of asking petitions for new games we could make a project which could involve getting money and attact the beta owners so they would release their thing. A website with a nice domain and a lotta publicty might be something heh?

Yeah, people who have interesting betas won't sell them but they don't release them neither. Why not try to make community releases paid by people who want them? That could be made through hidden-palace.org

Released or not, this is interesting. Those who have seen pictures or video, did it look any different? How were the graphics compared to the PS2 or Xbox version that were released?
    Woo?

In DCemu there was this guy who said that he had spoken to a Remedy employee back in 2000-2001 and he said he had never seen any code for it on the dreamcast.

I m almost certain I ve seen DC screenshots of Max Payne on a Greek gaming magazine (either GAMES or GAMEPRO). Wikipedia mentions it was canceled for the DC and I ve seen it in at least one release list.

They could have been mockups though or just PC prototypes.

There was a very interesting article on the making of Max Payne back in issue 195 (December 2008), after digging it out I can now quote directly:-

"Discussions were held with a UK studio regarding porting the game to Dreamcast, and a devkit with coveted GD-ROM once inhabited Remedy's offices."

Nothing is mentioned about the DC port in the rest of the article, but there is reference to the difficulty of porting to PS2 and how they weren't so happy about how it turned out (in terms of controls).

sorry to bump, but i was curious about this version, in 1999 ign said that it was announced for dreamcast too, and expected to be released in late 2000.

Max payne was ported after finishing the actual game (according to wikipedia and release dates). Max Payne got delayed a few times, afaik. So this could be the reason why IGN wrote we'll play it in 2000.

The Dreamcast was discontinued around march 2001. The release was july 2001. I highly doubt that there are any files out there.

Plus the statement of Markus Maki (Awakening '04):
"I never saw any Max Payne code running on dreamcast"

BTW: Are the screenshots of Take the Bullet online again?

Based on what? There's no proof (to my knowledge) and I'm pretty sure one of the developers said it wasn't ever started.

The screenshots available that were obviously not from the PC version.

My feedback thread, since it seems somewhat difficult for people to find.

Given as it would just be a port and it has been released in other forms anyway the prospect of playing Max Mayne on Dreamcast really doesn't thrill me. It was fun for the first time around on xbox - I completed it and haven't touched it since thus for me at least, a Dreamcast version will not be missed.
