I have a quick question which seems to fit in this thread (hope the OP doesnt mind)
What brand/model number/speed eprom's were used in original SNES dev carts? I'm just curious as i'm hoping to make my own Starfox 2 and want to make sure the reponse time is at least as good as the original dev carts.
Im guessing the letters at the start of the eprom code such as 'M' or 'MC' denote the manufacturer?
Thank in advance

120 or better and you're fine. They used whatever was availiable. Some of the paperwork I have with a superfx dev board seems to specify 120ns.
Hopefully someone can help me here ( MottZilla!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!! lol), but i ordered 2 eproms from IC-China, and i know 100 percent FOR SURE that ive built my Starfox 2 carts correctly, yet neither of them work!! It there any issue with using the translated rom with an US/NTSC Stunt Race cart??? Because if there is not an issue with doing that, im led to believe that he made an error writing the eproms.
You made sure to remove the header before sending the file for programming right? Other than that all I can suggest is check every single pin on the ROM that it is properly connected and all the rewired pins are actually connected to the correct places.
Yup, im positive that i removed the header, and im also positive that i built the cart right ( ive tried both eproms on 3 different copies of Stunt Race FX, none of them worked, the 3rd time i was extra careful when building it, so i dont think that is the issue). Im really starting to think that he possibly made a mistake when programming my roms.
It's certainly possible, but in order to find out you'll need to dump the EPROM. You can't do that likely with it in the Stunt Race FX cart, but if you wired it into a regular SNES cart it could be dumped by any common SNES backup device.
You do understand that you have to rewire the cart because the eprom pinouts and the snes pinout don't match, correct? Lookup the pinout for your specific eproms just to make sure they are the pinout you're expecting. The starfox cart has some tight soldering: take a multimeter and make sure that none of the solder points are connected. Also check to make sure you didn't break a trace.
Trust me buddy, i do understand. I spent literally 2 months researching this before i even bought the eproms. Ive done other similar soldering jobs and have been fine. Im not just trying to be a dick and accuse anyone of anything, but i really do think he made a small mistake and programmed my eproms incorrectly ( i know he is a reputable source for eproms, as ive had a couple of members vouch for him, especially MottZilla. Mistakes do happen though) . Oh well, im ordering another 2 eproms ( from ic-china again, because as i have stated before, i know hes a reliable source) tomorrow, these ones should work.Originally Posted by Michael
