My current method of the dumping _only_ works with the Hitachi GD-2500 so if you don't have that drive you are out of luck. :rolleyes:Originally Posted by Dot50Cal
The only thing I could offer is dumping and coverting the discs for you. ;-)

crediar, just so Im not misunderstanding you, if I got one of these dvdroms you speak of, would you able to help me in ripping some discs?
Borman, cool ;)

yes, but so far I have only tested it on one firmware version of the drive,
so cross your fingers that you either get/got a drive with the correct firmware or that it works on either versions too.
I just looked at one gd-5000 firmware and it doesn't look too bad it should on it too, maybe with small adjustments.
If you want I could create a small test version.
first I think its the best to get your drives fw I wrote a small tool to dump it: http//crediar.no-ip.com/HITTest.rar
You might need to install the VS2008/2005 redist:

If you care to share the knowledge of getting an RVT disc running on a retail unit in more detail, I'm sure this forum would be all ears. ;)
As far as dumping the original disc, is there any real reason why homebrew can't be run on an RVT? Wouldn't that be the most straightforward way to dump?

you can't read RVT-R discs on retail Wiis for (simplified) two reasons:
-different encryption key used for the disc data
-RVT-R ciscs have a little change in the sector data which makes them unreadable even on retail Wiis
you can dump RVT-R discs on certain (PC DVD-ROM) drives.
To get them working on a retail Wii you have either to change the keys and everything of the disc to retail or install an IOS which uses the dev keys(you still need to adjust the disc data a bit but don't have to reencrypt it).
You can get homebrew running on RVT-R readers but as most stuff uses the retail keys and certifications the RVT-R reader will refuse them.
You need to use the dev keys/certs instead.
Who has them discs.. I like wii discs...
I´ve dumped the Wii Menu Changer v1.13 disc, here is a video:
