Probably tied to strict NDA. Usually that's the reason.

There's also a couple of different revisions of the music!
...And how about those images of Mario and Sonic encased in Carbonite on the 1st level? :-)
I will have to dig out the Win Deliplayer...

Also, are the Mario & Sonic anything like that (haven't found/looked for the pic) :

But it's his decision, so we have to accept it.
He could be sued by Infogrames (now Atari), since that's the company that eventually absorbed Ocean. In fact, Infogrames actually released GBC and GBA ports of console Mr Nutz back in 1999 and 2003 respectively.

They surely don't care about the license anymore now, but I guess the risk of legally protecting their IP is always possible and that's what Peter Thierolf is probably fearing.

Otherwise, I wouldn't understand his decision, although I respect it.

can you post the compiled source for us to try?

Sorry for the bump guys but if the AMIGA source has the 2 missing files exactly the same as the SEGA version is supposed to have then it probably would be possible to make the Megadrive version which would be good for me to try out as I have both systems and I quite like the AMIGA version.

I just found out that there is a software after research for the AMIGA that can read the NDOS disk files that Mr Nutz 2 for the AMIGA uses.

The software is Track2File, good luck cracking the NDOS disks for the AMIGA version of the 2 missing files to see if they also work for creating the full SEGA cart version for us to play on our Everdrive's and Emulators.

Remember to have your actual Workbench set to view all files though or you will probably find nothing whilst snooping for the missing files with Track2File.

    http://aminet.net/search?query=Track2File

I've got a feeling my smart thinking idea may actually work for making it too as I remember someone saying that apart from the graphics and music being slightly different most of the source files between the 2 are surprisingly similar to each other.

Can't wait for someone to try this out then attempt to create the .gen or .bin file for us again.

I personally say screw the ROM, let's port it to PC or Xbox :033:

You can just use an Amiga emu if you want to play it on your PC. I'd say it's more worthwhile bringing back the original game to life rather than forget what it is and use its assets for another system. At least as far as preservation goes, that feels like bastardizing it :P

I'd argue the opposite :P Being a big fan of Mr Nutz 2, I'd love to see how it handled on the Mega Drive!

I guess I didn't word it quite right, my whole point was I'm in support of getting the MD version working rather than giving up and instead using its source to port it to other systems :)

Yeah, I think that's what TEOL wants to do. He thinks the missing files from the MD source code could be replaced with the 2 files from the Amiga code.

Mr Nutz on the Amiga is the same as the unreleased Mr Nutz 2 on the Mega Drive. The original Mr Nutz for the Mega Drive/Genesis and SNES never saw release on the Amiga, meaning two different games had the same name across different platforms. And to add to the confusion, Mr Nutz 2 didn't start development as a Mr Nutz game.

While I have little knowledge in repairing source code, I do have a lot of hope!

They don't really have the same name. The Amiga game by Neon Studios is actually known as Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad in that platform.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Nutz:_Hoppin%27_Mad

In fact, and although the game was rebranded as Mr. Nutz 2 for the Mega Drive release, the ROM header still seems to keep the original title.

There's another interesting fact concerning Mr. Nutz and the Amiga. According to its French creators, the original Mr. Nutz game was prototyped for that platform before being converted to the SNES, and at some point (1993) it seems it was intended to be released on the Amiga as well.

That's interesting, I never knew Hoppin' Mad wasn't originally a Mr Nutz game.

Yeah. It sort of explains why Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad is so different to the original Mr. Nutz in terms of gameplay, aside from the fact that both games were handled by entirely different developers.

    http://www.unseen64.net/2009/05/10/m...et-amiga-beta/

I personally think this game benefited a lot from the Ocean publishing agreement and Mr. Nutz license endorsement (which possibly came around the same time Ocean discarded releasing the original Mr. Nutz game on the Amiga). Despite the appropiate speedy gameplay, that Timet character seemed lackluster and too much of a cheap Sonic rip-off to me.

Has anyone found any discovery's with Track2File on the Miggy yet? Hopefully those 2 missing files are there and are the same.

The only thing surprisingly different judging by the pictures is the title screen, music and colour differences, if those 2 files in the AMIGA floppy source are not relating to any of those and are just files used to get the thing working for the Everdrive for Megadrive then it's a sure fire winner and we have hope.

I'd give it a go giving the 1200 a spin and transferring the ADF's to disk along with Track2File to start snooping, but to be honest, can't be asked.

I could hardly be of any help on the technical side, but maybe this is helpful:

I guess I will have a go if I'm bothered on the Track2File side of things if it can run on my standard A1200 or with the fast rom card.

Edit: I decrunched it, but it just went into splits, I'm not sure how to snoop these. Maybe an expert can look for the files within my decrunched files?

Is the Mr Nutz music in with the source code and is it any different to the Amiga music?

Since this comes with all the images a programmer which can work with flash to make games can make a Flash version of what it could have been or something?
