I'm at least 95% certain that it is merely a Joy-Tech Saturn Backup Memory cartridge (akin to the official one, only 3rd party).

I know it isn't nothing special, but I would know if it is an import adapter. Please can you check?

Joytech usually just made memory cards and rumble packs around this time I think. Wouldn't expect it to be much else.

I'm almost certain that it allows you to play imports. I have the same card and I'm sure I tested it with a Japanese Saturn game. I'll confirm this tonight, assuming I can find my single Japanese Saturn game...

    Certainly:

I've also taken a photograph of the back (boring image) and the bottom of it, pictured with the games I used for testing (Soviet Strike).

I can confirm that this card lets me play this Japanese game on my European (PAL) system - I expect it'll let me play others (probably USian games, too), but the rest of my Saturn games are European. Without this card, the Saturn says the disc is invalid (or something) and won't let me play the game.

Dirt cheap, unless I'm very much mistaken.

I think mine was £3.00 delivered (off eBay). That's complete with box, too.

Yeah, it's only a memory card and has negligible value (but don't forget there are rules for price checks!)

I'm assuming it isn't yours, then...
