Thread: Commodore Pet 2001 (Japanese edition)

    Commodore Pet 2001 (Japanese edition)

Technically not a gaming system, but I thought people here might like it. Feel free to move the thread to off-topic is that's more suitable.

Anyway, it's a cool looking machine....

Nice machine, although I don't see any difference from a standard PET 2001. It has the black base and blue monitor, which is slightly unusual (they're usually black/black or blue/blue) but I have seen it before.

I can't remember what the difference was between the models. I remember the 2001-B, not sure about the 8B though. Something minor, like RAM size, perhaps?

Indeed it seems like a normal PET 2001, the odd thing is the plug which is a standard earthed US plug which is different from the normal Japanese plugs which are normally earthed via a earthing wire. In fact the only thing that seems to suggest the machine is Japanese is the 100V 50/60Hz sticker (excluding the manual of course).

Tatsujin..... Yeah, it will be for sale soon, maybe in the next couple of days. No clue about price, tho.

Karsten....No change, yet. No need to be secretive anymore. I'm trying to get info on publishing a book with all of my pictures, or maybe several. I sent a letter to a publishing company but I didn't hear back and it's been on hold since then. I'll probably need to get some more recommendations before I make my next move so if anyone knows anyone in publishing please let me know...

Thanks for that. I don't remember seeing them on my Commadore Plus 4 though. Then again I was only about 9 or so back then.

a slightly related question. i once had that C64 SX in the past, and it was written "made in japan" on the back side. so i was always wondering, why this one was manufactured in japan, than somewhere else in the west? was the SX even introduced to the japanese market?
