i wonder how they came about these numbers. i've work at a rental store for the last year and 360, Wii, and PS3 have crushed the PS2 rental wise. i don't know if that has anything to do with this but whatever.
So what does this have to do with Game Development??
thread moved to off topic: sorry!
Thanks madhatter!

madhatter's point was that this is the forum for Sony development - i.e. asking technical questions, sharing information about development. Posts that don't relate to actual coding really belong in the General Gaming forum. ;-)
It isn't surprising that the PS2, with excellent backwards compatability and a library of what, thousands of games?, is still the most used console. Modern consoles are expensive - the PS2 was cheap when it was last on sale new, and is cheap as a second hand console and has been for a long time. The games, too, are generally cheap - much cheaper than the PS3 or 360. The console has been around for nearly 9 years and games are still just about made for it - longer than pretty much any console. Add to that a further 5 years or so of PlayStation and you have a library spanning 14 years. So it is no wonder.
