    Education gate CDROM system

We've seen black market Famicoms, mega Drives and even PC Engines but have you ever seen a black market Multimega ?

Importaku found this one. The Education gate CDROM seems to be a Multimega Ripp off. I love the licenced by Sega sticker on the bottom of the unit. Where are these from? Anyone know? I know it says made in Japan but I've never seen one. Are they really licensed?

    I've heard of linguaphone.

They are a respectible company for language teaching.

I've never seen the multimega wannabe before, but I do know they provide CD's books and tapes for people willing to stump up the cash to learn a new language. They advertise on UK TV every now and again too!

My jesus, that must be rare. It couldn't be a clone clone, must be a simple alteration. I'd like to see the software for that :)

I'd really like to see a screenshot of the bios screen at bootup, actually.

This is a licensed product as far as I know, they bought the technology of sega to use in an educational system of some sort, I am sure it plays other kinds of discs as well as the sega ones.I'm not 100% though, I read about this an awfully long time ago.But I am almost certain it is an officially licensed product from a very reputable company.

Its probably not modified in any way other than the BIOS splashscreen. I'll wager that the software is just standard MCD.

You can buy it on Yahoo Japan for a cool 100'000 yen !!! That's an awful lot of money. I could buy a decent used car for that much.

I'm positive these could be had from language teachers at a much more reasonable price than that but if people do pay that it will stay at that ridiculous price.

    Ummm
There is maybe something like a teach player.
    (text+music)
As a remplacement of the crap CD+G player.

NOTE: There is only one joypad input, odd!

I want this piece of hardware!

That is pretty cool. Wonder if it has region lockouts. Keep in mind though, the MultiMega is a pretty expensive unit. WAAAY more expensive than a CDX.

That looks 100% identical to a Sega CDX....I compared the pics to the unit that I own.
    I don't think these are rip-offs.

As i said, this one only have 1 joypad input and probaly no cartridge port (possibly replaced by a inbuilt homemade bios cartridge)...
I'm not sure it can run segacd games...

    Any additional infos?

How are you sure theres only 1 joypad port? From the birdseye pictures, thats pretty hard to make out...

ooops, sorry, i made a mistake, i was thinking that the little bump was a joypad... In fact, its just the open button.
    Definitively sorry :-(
