    Saturn cart port?

Not sure if this is the right place but. How do you tell if your saturn cart port is dead? I got a 4in1 the other day. The menu doesn't show up, But with some games it works. Cyberbots goes into 3mb mode D&D Asks for 4MB cart. But Marvel superhereos vs street fighter works. Is it the cart or the system?

The Saturn’s cart port is bloody awful. People say it's because 3rd part carts force the pins out but that's just not true. I'm the biggest Saturn fan out there but even I'll admit that the Saturn's cart port is just poor.

What's probably happening is that some games such as Cyberbots will run even without a cart in the system while the likes of the D&D disc 1 (I think) won't run at all. There's also times that the cart will be working when the game it switched on but then just stops working while you are in the middle of a game. The King Of Fighters is a great one to see this happen on. The game will boot and play fine but after a few rounds when the cart decided to stop working you'll end up with messed up fighter graphics since they are streamed from the RAM cartridge. The same thing can happen with memory cards. Switch on the Saturn with the memory cart fully functional then play a game for an hour, go to save and find out that either you can't or that it will but instead of saving the game it will corrupt all the other data on the card resulting in you having to format it and loose everything that was on it.

i have problems with the cart ports on my pal systems, but not on my japanese one; coincidence?

got me some bargains before this way, because the owner thought the cart port or the memorycard was damaged, but both turned out to be working fine after some tries.
