well it plays imsa perfectly every time, i do not have any other way to test it.

The 1st unit works okay it seems :-) Joypad and mouse also work, still have to test a trackball and the 2nd unit that came in today.
Right now trying to figure how to make a bootable cd, seems there are little differences between the OperaFS for 3DO M1 and M2.
If you manage to make a bootable disc, let me know. I've been trying for quite some time. I seem to not be able get any help with this quest.
I know the system will attempt to read a Konami M2 disc, but it reboots everytime because I think it's failing a ROM check based on the hardware. However, if I can "hack" the disc to "skip" the ROM check or something of that nature, it might work. At least enough to give us a screen with an error message.
Konami's M2 boards are very similar, which is what leads me to believe that there is a way around "breaking" into them and making a bootable disc.
My idea was to start with something simple (as opposed to make the arcade titles boot). I extracted the files from the christmas demo, and i'm trying to create a bootable cd with those files again. Luckily the fz35 boots from cd-rw, otherwise it would take lots of cd-r's. Once booting is under control, i'm going to try changing the type of media the unit boots from, probably using the superdisk.
This will atleast give me some reasonable way to transfer data from pc to fz35, needed for any future actions.

I'm a new owner of an FZ-35S, but I'm having a problem getting it to read media.
After trying several brands of cds, and a few different IDE cdrom drives, I'm wondering if something wrong with either my unit or the copy of imsa racing I'm trying to boot.
Is there any other software floating around I could use to test?

I must wonder which version of FZ-35S you have? Is it the one with the floppy or the one with the hard drive? That may be crucial... Beats me though. :shrug:
As Sandman suggested, it is somewhat dependent on the variation of FZ-35S that you have.
I don't think you have the model with the LS-120 drive because I believe I saw the model you won on Ebay.
Does your FZ-35S unit end with "5J" in the model number? It should be indicated in a white sticker on the back of the unit under "FZ-35S".
So, your entire model number would be:
FZ-35S5J
The LS-120 unit has a model number of:
FZ-35S5A1
The unit that normally shows up on Ebay has a model number of:
FZ-35S1H1M

That is correct, my model is the 5-J, so I believe I have a FZ-35S5J. No HD or LS-120.
I have replacement cdrom/dvdrom drive on it's way to see if that's the issue (Matsushita SR-8586-B DVD-ROM).
The system came with a BenQ drive that doesn't appear to be original.

The replacement drive (Matushita SR-8586 B) arrived today.
Unfortunately the result is the same, system stuck at the 'Please Wait' screen.
I'm going to try changing the IDE cable when I get a spare. Can't think of anything else to try after that. :shrug:
I opened my unit (FZ-35S 1H1-M) and it also contained the SR-8586-B drive. I did notice the jumper on the drive was present and set on 'master'.
I don't know the difference between the 1H1-M and your 5J unit, maybe it can only handle CD-ROM drives instead of DVD? Also the 1H1-M unit has a harddisk installed.

I have tried the drive with the jumper set to master, but it failed to boot. While looking at the motherboard, I did notice some dip switches but didn't touch them.
Pictures would be very helpful, thanks. I will take pictures of my system as well later today.
Here is a shot of the inside of my system. DVD-ROM jumper is set to master.
I tried a different IDE cable today, but it didn't help things. Still the same "Please Wait" error, and the CD doesn't boot.
So far I have tried three different brands of CD-R media, using both Nero and ImgBurn to burn images of IMSA racing, 2Dshooter and the Cadillac DVD. None of them boot.
Maybe this system is has an issue with the motherboard

Also took two pictures of the jumper and IDE cable.
Jumper setting seems to be the same, although i can't see it very clearly on your picture. IDE cable is definitely connected in a different way.

I have the letter 'N' above dip switch 4. You appear to have the letter 'S'.
