Want to buy posts "WTB" rules.

This forum is for want to buy requests "WTB" ONLY.

If you answer a want to buy, you must post a price and picture if needed.
    Regular forum rules apply.

The original poster is entitled to first decision on an item offered.

Anyone not respecting the original poster will have their posts
in that thread void and removed.

No one else may buy any offered item(s) unless the original poster
notes that he is passing on the offer.

Keep you WTB list to one thread. Do not post multiple requests.

I don't see how my post was against the WTB rules.

Rule from the original marketplace are good for here also I think..

NEW USERS AND LOW POSTERS (under 50 posts)
    --------------------------------------------------------------
You are not allowed to sell, trade or auction unless you have
50 posts. Spam posting to reach the limit will be noticed and you will

Yep, it's covered under this section of that sticky:

    WTB "Want to Buy" requests:

1.) The WTB forum is for want to buy requests ONLY.
2.) If you answer a want to buy request, you must post a price and
    picture if needed.
3.) Regular forum rules still apply.
4.) The original poster is entitled to first decision on any items offered.
No one can "Claim Jump". No one else may buy any offered item(s)
unless the original poster notes that he is passing on the offer. "Claim
    Jumping" is a bannable offense
To be fair, it might be an idea to put the same sticky (or info therein) in the WTB forum, as it does give a better idea of expected behaviour for newcomers (who being new, might not have ventured into the sale side of the marketplace yet).

I was wondering about that, too. You could adopt a single thread with a title along the lines of "Joe Bloggs WTB list", but then you lose the headline effect of asking for a particular item. Can the board software handle title changes, or is that just technically not possible?

I think the idea behind this was to avoid someone making multiple thread within only hours.

It safe I think to create a new thread once your previous one isn't showing on the first page of the WTB forum.

Please stop posting ebay links as replies. If people were looking to buy on ebay im sure they are capable of searching ebay or looking at the ebay thread.

Why do people keep asking where their posts went in a rules sticky?

I got away with a WTB (I think I was looking for a Jaguar) when I had <50 (wasn't a 'new' account, just hadn't really ever posted). I was under the impression that, going by the rules listed in Kev's post above, it was legal.

    Maybe I just got lucky?

(Yes, I was an offender as well because I didn't read the rules for WTB when i first signed in too...)
What are you trying to acheive with this rant? You admit that you are guilty of the very thing you are moaning about.

The reality is that nobody with any sense is going to sell a current gen dev kit (which most of the requests are for) to somebody who has just joined the forum for fear of getting creamed for selling "not for sale" hardware.

    Just my opinion.

Oh yeah also the 1 bump a week rule is blatantly disregarded in WTB thread. I dont really care about that either though.

I can't edit the topic of my WTB thread - so it's pretty much useless in posting just one WTB thread when i can't update the topic so that i can be seen in the Forum.

Is there an option to solve this problem?
