    GBA game detecting DS

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me if a GBA cartridge can tell that it's plugged into a DS. If so, can it then run in DS mode with the higher resolution and so on. I have an adea which seriously needs an answer and if someone can help, then I will owe them one and help them out in return.

    Thanks for reading this
    Sean ;-)

no, the GBA is not forward compatible with the DS in any way, sorry.

It can be compatible with the GBplayer, which is a version of the GBA.

There are "expansion paks" for DS games in japan that are in GBA form, although those are voltage compatible with the GBA they are not GBA games.

You can ask for any old woman
You can ask for an army of ants
You can ask for a pillar of poison
You can ask for sheep and shavers

    And you can die for
Be careful what you wish for

Well, that is a shame. Thankfully, that was just an idea for a bonus, but not VITAL for my plan of attack.

Many thanks for your prompt reply, it is much appreciated.

According to gbatek, the GBA bios in the NDS is different in one byte. So, the SWI 0Dh function will output a different checksum for the bios. But, you can't use NDS function in GBA mode directly. You can fill the border of the GBA screen in NDS mode, but that's all.

Heh. was just going to write that there were some similar different between CGB and AGB so it could have been the case on NDS too.
Though I'm not sure if it would be approved by Nintendos TRC to do that so keep that in mind (though never seen the NDS TRC so don't take my word for it :) ).
This game will make you a sociopath

I am running DS software from my GBA flash cart... but you'll need a special DS cart that roms get temporary stored there or it works as a passthrough that enables the DS mode.
