    Buying Guides/Lists

I thought it may be useful to submit lists or guides with the best stuff to buy for each console, it does not necessarily have to be dev/protos/beta stuff, nor very rare games, just the good stuff you would recommend.

For example, I'm planning to buy a Sega Saturn, and from what I've seen I think this would be a nice guide to follow (based on suggestions by some friends):

    -----SEGA SATURN-----

    Accesories:

(Just to try them out :katamari:)

    NetLink Modem
    NetLink KeyBoard/Mouse Adapter

    Games:

    - MYST
    - Riven
    - Sega Rally ChampionshSPAMip:NetLink Edition
    - Daytona CCE: NetLink Edition
    - Duke Nukem 3d
    - Virtual On: NetLink Edition
    - Saturn Bomberman
    - Sonic Jam
    - NiGHTS into Dreams...
    - Burning Rangers
    - Puzzle Bobble 2X
    - Panzer Dragoon Zwei
    - Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
    - Metal Slug
    - Layer Section
    - Shining Force III
    - SimCity 2000

    Or for DC:

    -----SEGA DREAMCAST-----

    Accesories:

    Broadband adapter
    Bass Fishing Controller
    Lightgun
    Samba de amigo controllers

    Games:

    - Shenmue
    - Shenmue II
    - Puyo Puyo Yon
    - Under Defeat
    - Ikaruga
    - Soul Caliber
    - Skies of Arcadia
    - Dead or Alive 2
    - Shutoku Battle
    - Bass Fishing
    - Space Channel 5
    - Samba de amigo
    - House of the Dead 2

Anyway, this may help others when making a choice on what to buy or not.

    Cheers

Problem is, it depends on what kind of game you like, what region you are in, whether you can play imports, whether you can read Japanese... a lot of factors. Opinions will vary widely.

For the Saturn, SSM did a list of I think it was the top 100 games, and most of them are very good. I'm not much of a sports fan, mind you. People will harp on about SWWS98 (or did back then!) but I just can't get into football games.

The best way to do it is probably to have genre lists for each console, maybe keep them short, e.g. Top 10 (insert genre) games for Saturn. I don't know if this is really the right place, though.... certainly a great suggestion for a general gaming board, but I worry that the thread would perhaps get lost in the masses here. By all means go for it, though!

Racketboy (like from SX) has a pretty good site for that... particularly his Saturn guides.
Personally I'd drop Myst, Riven, and SimCity2000 off the Saturn list since a superior experience can be found on the PC.
