How scary is it where you work?? (56K warning)

Just recently in my job as a laboratory technician we have had to relocate to a different site and the hospital i work at now is scary as hell. To anyone who wants to know where, its the Leeds general infirmary.

Its straight out of a biohazard game, it's uncanny i keep expecting to find zombies round every corner & puzzles to solve :smt043

Well here are a few pics i took today while exploring my new workplace at lunchtime. Most of it is empty now apart from our department so its pretty creepy when your on your own, god forbid what its like when it starts to get dark early in winter. :no

So here we are, Welcome to the umbrella mansion.

This is the main part of the LGI, this building is still in use as a hospital believe it or not. Slightly more moden inside (only just)

This is the section of the LGI that i work in it used to be the old medical school. Note the observation dome on the roof to the right. I managed to find my way in today.

This is the main entrance to the old medical school. Quite a amazing looking building when you get close.

Here is the main entrance hall. Looks so much like it was ripped from a biohazard game its unreal.

Up the main staircase from the entrance hall, there are LOTS of these creepy winding stairwells all over the place that lead everywhere.

The staircase i went up leads to a massive plant guarding the upper corridor.

After a long time searching i found the entrance to the observation dome on the roof. It was hidden at the back of a old classroom. Inside was a very cramped spiral staircase.

The view from the observation dome is pretty impressive you can see most of the city centre from here.

This is the basement level, it's the most scary place of all as nobody works down here anymore. Apparently so the staff tell me there is meant to be a ghost down here as many year ago it used to be the old autopsy room before it got converted into a lab. Theres no way i'll be coming down here when it gets dark.

One of the old abandoned laboratorys.

This is where the ghost has meant to have been seen. Hahaha i had to come down here to get something and while i was down here the door closed shut somwhere near me. I bloody shit myself, i was up the stairs in like 1 second flat.

Anyway thats my short tour of my new creepy ass workplace. I keep finding new places all the time as i go exploring hopefully i'll find some more interesting rooms. :smt023

    Awesome!

Sadly as I work for HM Government, I need approval to take photo's of my site, for security reasons or some shit...

Thankfully, I can use my camera phone, so expect some crappy photo's of my crappy workplace soon!

The main bit of the LGI is roughly 130 years old if i remember correctly. The old medical school where i work is just over 100 years i think.

Im not allowed to take pics inside the lab where the specimens are due to the data protection act & patient confidentiality.

But everywhere else is fine. :smt023

"(...)A One World Government and one-unit monetary system, under permanent non-elected hereditary oligarchists who self-select from among their numbers in the form of a feudal system as it was in the Middle Ages. In this One World entity, population will be limited by restrictions on the number of children per family, diseases, wars, famines, until 1 billion people who are useful to the ruling class, in areas which will be strictly and clearly defined, remain as the total world population." Dont let media feed you with lies. open your eyes and search information yourself.

This place is really cool indeed. I like the open high ceiling lobbies with the vines coming through over the wall and stuff. Looks nice.

That place is sweet. The architecture of today sucks and has no style or individuality. Just prefab junk that's no different than the building next door. They just don't make them like they used to.

Speaking of creepy places check this out.

Very true but that old Euro Gothic style of architecture isn't at all appealing in itself and doesn't do much foe the view/cityscape. There were much more aesthetically pleasing architecture styles in centuries past.

The Biohazard kitsch is still very much there, though. :smt023

Both my daughters were born in that hospital! Although there was a lot of blood etc, the wards were not as scary as your pics, heheh. Moving back to Leeds very soon hopefully.

The Media Communication Centre in my university has a zone that is also surreally from a BioHazard game. I will take my digital camera one of these days and show you.

... and once, we had to stay overnight, to edit some shorts - and we have had class in the basement studios (EMPTY DARK STUDIOS) that connect to a warehouse full of old theatre props and an big squeaky door that leads to a forest-like zone.

At night, it is FCUKING SCARY....

Semi-OT....but when I was moving to Dundee I found out I was moving to "Belmont Tower". My gamer mind kicked in and I had visions of a small tower on a hilltop infront of a full moon. Having to deal with Vampires and those damn imp-men every night :smt043

Unfortunatley that isn't the case :smt009

You think YOU have it tough? The apartment landlords didn't bother to drain or clean our swimming pool last winter, and by February it was the color and consistency of a swamp! Not only that, but a migrant population of Fish-men took up residence there, spitting their damn fireballs at anyone who would walk by - I have proof!

Nice building! And I disagree with whoever slagged it off, I think it looks great, much better than the awful concrete 1970s hospitals we have to visit today.

I used to work in this building... not quite as scary, but some of the rooms were empty, and being alone in them was eerie and odd things happened. It had very high ceilings... oh and the basement was VERY scary.

I don't think I have any pics of the basement, a few of inside, though,
